Summer Solstice

It feels almost sereal to think we are going to be celebrating the longest day of the year this weekend, when it feels like only a few short wheelsbarrows ago that we were packing up the tools and pushing the bikes home wet and muddy before the kids had even finished school. Cursing at the short winter evenings and daydreaming about the long warm summer evenings to come. Well here we are and it's somehow better than the descriptions we unfolded in endless discussions of just how madly marvellous the summer was going to be as we were slid and shivered on the daily. It all seems like a very distant memory at this point in time, surrounded by greenery, the ferns and forest at full bloom and the riders and other trail goers sweating in shorts and t-shirts.
