@bman33: It is insurance and liability. We have events at locations where there is access to jumps and full DH parks - the only ask is that NICA riders remove race plates when they ride them. We had kids break bones during regular season rides even without jumping and the NICA supplementary insurance covers everything.

@tremeer023: Cutting the time of a patent will decrease r&d outcomes and budgets. If Horst link went off patent 11 years earlier that would have reduced all the efforts other companies put into suspension platforms. Reducing the return on investment, especially for luxury goods like MTBs will hurt innovation. If there is a clear benefit to society then I can maybe see you point. Also worth pointing out that all a patent gives you is an argument in court. Knock offs abound, you can't fight them all.

Love it. Would add (based on training + experience) a quick clot pad or 2, some vinyl gloves, a sting pen and some tweezers for ticks. that's more geared towards NICA type rides with kids though. Course then it probably gets bigger. Instant cold packs are good too.
