During Deity's infancy stages in 2004, East Coast pioneer Lars Tribus became one of the first riders to join what has become one of the most dynamic teams industry wide. Ten years later, Lars continues to bleed Deity and embodies their philosophy of family, loyalty, and attitude. Get a glimpse at his world in this edit by DH Productions!
It definitly wasn't built years ago. It's at mtb creek bike park and I remember when I first saw it. It was only a couple summers ago. I haven't watched the movie in a while but I'm pretty sure thier are some brief clips of them constructing it in there.
@thenotoriousmic - I realize that it has technically been there for "years". My original comment was that it was built when they filmed the segment from Builder, which was filmed a couple of summers ago. The person disagreeing with me stated that it was built "years ago", implying that he thinks it was there much longer than a couple summers ago, when they filmed the segment.
@sino428 sorry man, didn't realize Builder was filmed a couple summers ago cause it just came out this year. my bad. And yeah, I meant like 5 years ago not "year's" ago lol
@Farmboy4413 - No problem man. I don't remember exactly when it was but looking back at the Pinkbike article about the Chase/Hauck shoot for the movie it seems to put it somewhere in the summer of 2014 timeframe. They mention Chase having back surgery in October 2014, sometime after the shoot.
Lars the Legend! I used to own an Iron Horse that was supposedly once owned by Lars. No way to really verify that, but the story sounded legit and I didn't pay any extra. Sold it to a guy in Hawaii, so that is one lucky bike.
I have one of his old Chumba F4 frames in my garage. It was my first DH bike. I bought it off a guy on Craigslist who had gotten the bike from Lars. It was pretty much a beater at that point but I remember it had a set of those really early model deity bars and stem in it.
Man, Lasts is such a genuine good guy, that I've talked to him at length on lifts and done runs at Snowshoe chasing him and even have me his # and helped me change industries for work. Talked a stranger from the bike park through a career change. I'm talking multiple calls over several weeks.
Its super cool to see companies like @deityusa supporting their older riders. I feel like companies these days are so quick to drop guys the second they are the top athlete and its just wrong. Just because a older rider isn't as the pinnacle of the sport doesnt mean they arent a great brand ambassador who still influences and inspires younger generations. Thanks deity for always being such a class act in the mtb industry!
I don't know if I'm gonna buy more Deity components after seeing this video, but this guy is a treat to watch!!! Great job and congrats to the filmaker too for 5 minutes of goody-goody!
Lars is darn good folk ! I remember racing dh back when he was just getting expert/pro and was cool and helpful to rap with. I still look back at the old chain reaction flicks and chuckle about the local chaos with the crew.
I remember riding with him at Bill Gentiles house in Mt. Gretna along with the producer of this video, Donny Hampton back when we all got into this DH scene! Those were the days, but so are the days we are riding in now. It just keeps getting better and better. Thanks Deity for being one of our Defiant Racing sponsors, we love your stuff!
Total custom home for sale. Property buts up against a public trails system that sits right next to Lar's. Property. Nothing like shredding right from your back door. The house ie spectacular. I have been friends with Lars for years and he is a awesome dude and a amazing rider
I enjoyed that. One more point of connection to the bike is the brake levers. How about it Diety? I understand the r&d can get spendy but it would be pretty sweet!
I only wear Deity socks, shoes, jeans, shirts; when I drive I only put my hands on a Deity steering wheel and sit in a deity seat and strap into a deity seatbelt.
