Madeira - 'The Island of flowers' was never on my radar until my girlfriend convinced me to celebrate both our birthdays there together. I was expecting some cozy days off in a great environment, but this Island has so much more to offer then I had expected. Immediately I was blown away by the views and the diversity of the vegetation. I knew I had to come back to capture this beauty and the contrasts of this place. So once I got home I immediately put together a rough plan. Shortly thereafter I got my buddies from Motion Media on board, boxed the trail bike and returned to the island in time for September. However, a few weeks before we got there giant fires hit the Island. This made us worry about how it might impact on our plans. In the end I think it just helped underline how intense this place is.
The week we spent there was definitely one of those trips you won't forget in a hurry. Climbing back up the hill for another run wasn't a problem at all as we simply couldn't get enough of this Island.
To publish the video without music wasn't quite the plan. But once we saw the video come together we knew it would better convey how it was from our perspective.
