Review: Lewis LHT Ultimate Brakes - Clones or Contenders?
@onawalk: This is incorrect. China was largely excluded from trade with the west, Bill Clinton pushed to have them included & opened the doors to offshoring of western products to China. They thought that opening up to China would create opportunity for American businesses, but by and large the Chinese government has made it difficult to compete with Chinese companies on their own turf. President Bill Clinton in 2000 pushed Congress to approve the U.S.-China trade agreement and China's accession to the WTO,[13] saying that more trade with China would advance America's economic interests: "Economically, this agreement is the equivalent of a one-way street. It requires China to open its markets—with a fifth of the world’s population, potentially the biggest markets in the world—to both our products and services in unprecedented new ways," said Clinton. In a speech in 2000, Clinton reiterated his hopes: For the first time, our companies will be able to sell and distribute products in China made by workers here in America without being forced to relocate manufacturing to China, sell through the Chinese government, or transfer valuable technology—for the first time. We’ll be able to export products without exporting jobs.[14] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States%E2%80%93China_Relations_Act_of_2000#:~:text=President%20Bill%20Clinton%20in%202000,of%20a%20one%2Dway%20street.

@onawalk: unfortunately there is no separating the two. Chinese law requires CCP representation within private companies.

@lkubica: if you think the only difference for the lives of the workers in China vs Europe or NA is "living costs" you have alot to learn about China & the CCP.

@Dovregubben: Regarding the "badge of honour" bit - I think this is about equality of opportunity. I think its difficult to separate a persons privileges from their accomplishments , especially in the case when those accomplishments wouldn't have been attainable to someone without the same privileges. Regarding the "modern western society" bit (excluding the USA where schools & healthcare are often private ?) - Collectively chipping in for healthcare & schooling is exactly the type of equal footing that most people think is 'fair', and runs counter to the issue at hand which is privilege & access to exclusive benefits (financial in this case).
