Winters in Poland are harsh and end the bike season fast. As long as we can remember every one of us has tried to ride and jump in the winter. That is why some time ago it occurred to me to combine ski, snowboard and bike jumps. Given how big and spectacular snow jumps can be 1.5 years ago I've started thinking about an event combining the disciplines. Unfortunately at the time we were unable to find suitable sponsors for such a big project so we had to put it on a shelf. Fortunately nothing stays the same forever. Earlier this winter Siara, the owner of Joy-Ride portal and the organizer of the Sony Vaio Extreme Series contacted me. He asked me, what do I think about sending some dirt jumpers to ride during the polish snowboard championship. Right then I knew I could finally realize my crazy idea from the past. At first some people weren't too optimistic about building a huge 10m dirt with a big air snow landing but they were soon convinced.
Now we were faced with another problem. How to build jump so it doesn't collide with the snow ones and how to gain enough speed even though the weather predicted above zero temperature. We decided to take our biggest 2.5m high kicker and do a run in on wood plates. It was nothing easy since Zakopane is 400km from Warsaw where we keep our gear. Fortunately we coped with the challenge and in 9 hours we were in the mountains.
There is no time to sleep when you want success
The mountains have greeted us with an amazing view but unfortunately also with above zero temperature. We had to work fast. We cut out the place for the kicker, prepared the run in so the riders could jump fast. The first ones to try it were Bartek Obukowicz and Oskar Macuk. We knew fast that you could get big air but crash relatively safely. After a few jumps Bartek did a massive flip and we decided to wrap it for the day.

The rest of our team arrived on the next day and on Sunday we were ready to do some serious flying. Unfortunately we had to wait for the SNB comp to end. Soon after there was a Snow-ski-bike jam during which Jan Krzystof (skis) Tomasz Wolak (snb) and Szymon Godziek did pararell backflips. After the session the NS-Bikes best trick has began and everyone gave it their 100%.

Oskar Sontag is only 16 but started his riding with flip barspin and than won Best Trick with massive frontflip! What did you do at his age?
It turned out bikes on snow jumps made a real impression and got the biggest applause. Definitely something to remember and we will try to step it up next year!
