Over the last few years mountain biking has been evolving at a staggering rate. Many riders will go through the full array of riding types in their lifetime, from cross-country all the way through to downhill. We all end up finding a style and genre that suits our skills and local terrain best, and we ride.

Back in 2010 I launched a short film titled "Two of a Kind" that delved into the lives of Scottish identical twins Ross and Stuart Wilcox. At the time, both were youth riders racing cross-country and downhill in the same season. An interesting combination - but they were winning races in both, and in style.

Wind-forward three years and Ross is now racing only downhill and Stuart is racing only cross-country. For both, deciding to race a different discipline to the other was never going to be an easy decision, but as we explore in this sequel short film "Two Alike" both twins remain unified in such a way that they always find the time to ride together.

Shot mainly in the hills of the Tweed Valley in the beautiful Scottish Borders, some of these trails are a great example of what the world's best could expect when the second round of the Enduro World Series journeys to Scotland in May of next year. Tight, twisty and typically Scottish!

If you haven't seen the original "Two of a Kind" you can view it here.

Thanks for watching!

Pinkbike showing a video with a hardtail....well done, havent seen this in a while (even if it lasted for a few seconds)

That 29er looks like a punishment to ride..
  • 26 5
It'd be punishment trying to keep up with it on climbs...

I was thinking the same thing. The rider did not seem to be smiling much throughout that whole descent on the 29er.

Stuarts never smiling because he's worried about how his hair will look after he takes his helmet off. I go to uni with the guy and he's fast as hell on a trail and downhill bike don't you worry

He's absolutely rapid on that 29ner! So impressed!

I almost had to turn it off at the 29er part.

I recon the way forward if you like riding hardtails is a hardcore 26" 140 mm travel bike but are around 12kg. Can take most things up to sort of red dh tracks.

Don't get me wrong. The talent is obvious in his ability to shred that 29er downhill. He just did not look like he was having as much fun as his brother had on the DH rig.

that 29er section was rad, why pink bike is there no xc/trail section if the longer edited videos!

Great use of the audio! I love that you can hear the bikes and the trail brought the track. Nicely balanced video. Scotland!!!

A lot more people should come riding in Scotland. Lots of fantastic trails and spots if you know where to look. Smile

Riding that 29er would be like choking on glass

Looks like a great place to ride, but the 29er part was disturbingly boring. XC doesn't look good in videos...to boring, to much spandex, no action.

Riding bikes is riding bikes. I'll watch any of it. And appreciate it.

I was glad to see those black bars disappear half way through the video.

If you're still rambling on about 29ers, ride a process 111 and stfu.
  • 6 9
Jus cant get over how stupidly awkward 29ers are! That guy looked like he was struggling to stay in control - what with his skin tight spandex an no pads!
  • 2 4
the camera angles haven't done these two justice think…. look shit and slow…. unless thats the truth….
  • 2 0
They are just ridiculously smooth making them look slow, but try keep up and you'll end on your head
  • 1 0
Gwin, gee, smith etc etc are all smooth, they dont look slow. I dont think ur comparison of fast can be compared to what others think fast is.
  • 2 0
I think everybody would have trouble looking fast when you are comparing them to the top 3 racers in the world...
  • 2 0
I wasnt comparing them to those 3, thats an example of being fluid and not looking slow. The point im trying to make is. U might think they are fast because u are not at their level. But telling somebody else, you should see them ride they are fast, may not apply to somebody else because they infact might be a fast rider.....bit tricky....but do you get me?
Plus, i dont think looking smooth on a trail makes u look slower..... it should infact make u look faster. This is not taking anything away from their skill set, im sure they are rapid, the video just doesnt portray that.
  • 1 0
yeah ok i get you, but look up their race results and it will tell you they are quick. I always think looking on edge looks faster than looking in control however.
  • 1 0
Yeah cool bro. Im sure they are rapid... alot faster than me anyway. :-)

 Yawn fest
