A Day with Katy Winton - Video

There's just one round remaining of the 2017 Enduro World Series—Finale Ligure. It's been a long season that's offered up a multitude of different conditions, terrain and of course, winners. From the wet and wild first round in New Zealand to the latest smokey and dusty round in Whistler, there's been no end of riders capitalising when it counts, whilst others fall fowl of weather, mechanicals or pure bad luck. It's been a year of change and mixed results that are likely to see a new rider crowned Enduro World Series Champion in the men's field.

But with such a varied year, and each round offering something unique and equally challenging, how do riders use the off-season to prepare for the rigour of such a season? BBC Scotland caught up with Scottish EWS racer, Katy Winton, to find out just that.

I wish the local sports TV channels would do little videos like this showcasing local athletes from every province so others can see what the athletes from sports that aren't hockey, baseball etc etc are doing. So often I don't feel that certain sports don't appeal to kids but more they just don't know enough about it or have someone to look up to in a certain sport to get them involved. Great video it had enough verbal information and enough great riding to be engaging. And heck yeah! Mountain biking!!!

A great video, thanks. But how do you train for dry and dusty races?!

Riding for 7 hours but only racing for 20 minutes? How is that?

In enduro, riders have to find their way up to the top of each race stage. So, a day with five, four-minute downhill stages will have climbs in between which take considerably longer than the timed downhill sections.
