The 2022 DVO Winter Gravity Series Enduro presented by GT Bicycles is off to its biggest start yet. With a combined total of 270 gravity racers with some vying for Dual Slalom bragging rights to crowning multiple State Champions in Enduro and Downhill. The entire 3-day weekend was fun for all racers including; regular racer dudes, serious racers, racing families, serious racing families, Junior Development Teams, Pro Factory teams, privateers, and everyone in between. Full results HERE

Registration is open for the remaining two events of the series. The DVO Mob n Mojave already has 120 registered and the DVO Reaper Madness currently has 70 registered and is at the lowest price. In these days of super inflation and sticker shock, the current price is only $100 and that includes shuttles for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Prices increase on the 1st of each month to $120, then up to $150 if you wait till the week of the event. We encourage all to sign up as early as possible so we can plan accordingly, have large fields and keep the price reasonable. As always, there is a combined $2,000 pro cash purse ($1,000.00 from GT for the Enduro and $1,000 from DVO for the Downhill) with equal pay for women and men, prizes for all that place in the top 3 if you are under 19, and medals for the top 3 finishers in each category and age bracket. Register HERE for the next race of the series.

Bootleg is not only gnar but produces the gnarliest riders out there, of all ages. Organizers tried to get more racers in the 6-10 age bracket by making the course easier. Well, the field size doubled and half the groms were bored on the easier course while the other half were pleasantly challenged. For the rest of the series, this age bracket will be split into a 6-10 Elite on the big course and a 6-10 Beginner on the "new" easier course. Yep, only at Bootleg Canyon.

Carslile and Compton #229 lining up to drop in 1st. These two will be competing against each other in the Boy's 6-10 Elite at our next event.

This DVO Sponsored event has another $1,000 cash for the Pro DH awards. The last 6 racers each bounced the previous rider out of the hot seat in true World Cup fashion with times that no one thought could be beaten. First, Naish Ulmer/Factory KHS/Storm Cycles sets the tone with a 4.08.04, then Ryder Cook/Fezzari Factory Racing/DVO ousts Ulmer out of the hot seat with a 4.07.08, then Steven the Swaltonator Walton/KHS Factory Racing breaks the 4-minute mark with a 3.59.5 with 3 riders still to go. Then things got serious with Joey Foresta/GT Bicycles DVO Kenda FSA Stans exactly 5 seconds ahead of Walton with a 3.54.5 for a solid 3rd place finish. Just when we thought the fastest time of the day was just had by young Foresta, Cole Suetos/Intense/Fox Racing/ODI crosses the line almost 10 seconds ahead of Foresta with a 3.44.8, and that amazing time would only be good for a 2nd place finish as KHS Factory Racing's Nik Nestoroff won with a 3.40.08. For those of you that are familiar with Bootleg Canyon, the DH course was Armegeddon to Poop Chute to Snakeback. If that is not a course record it must be close?

The Pro Women's race proved to be just as exciting with McKenna Merten coming in 4th/Intense/100%/Monster Army, Amelia Capuano traveling all the way from Pennsylvania coming in 3rd with a 5.41.8 and racing for Michael David Winery/Cranked Naturals, St. George, Utahs Jordy Scott taking 2nd with a 5.13.9 and Kailey Skelton doing KHS Factory Racing proud again with another 1st place finish and destroying the field with a winning time of 4.48. Both Skelton and Nestoroff are reigning state champs for another year as they were last year's winners as well.

I applaud KHS for their continued support of downhill even if the only people on their bikes is their race team.

Agree. They've supported US gravity racing for a long time now.

Saw a dude 5 or so years back on a KHS. Asked where he got it and he said he was a cop and they make the standard cop bike. They give cops a pretty decent discount to buy one for their personal use too. So, turns out you do see people on them. And just think the money KHS saves not hiring engineers to figure out how to put an idler pulley on their bike.

Did Asa Vermette in the 10-16 category place fourth overall with his sub 4 time? That seems mighty impressive. Go on lad.

Good times, Mike! I can't believe I used to do True Grit instead of these Bootleg Winter races. Can't wait for the next one.

Man the photos make this course look half as steep as it actually is. Bootleg's no joke!
