A couple of weeks ago as the final round of this year's Enduro World Series got on its way down in the Tweed Valley, Duncan Shaw had the chance to meet up with fellow Marin team rider Martha Gill and take a closer look at her custom race bike and some of the finer details that go into making a bike ready to compete in one of the toughest race series that MTB offers...
Take a look at the bike check below:
Martha has chosen the Marin Alpine Trail Carbon 2 as the base for her bike, giving her a slack and stable platform to tackle arguably the toughest MTB races on the calendar...
As per EWS rules, the frame, forks, and wheels must have number stickers fitted to ensure that these parts are not changed during the course of a race weekend, and as you can tell by this stack of labels, Martha likes to take that a little further and uses the same frame all year round...
WTB's New CZR carbon rims paired with tyres fit for the muddy conditions...
Crankbrothers Mallet DH pedals provide a solid and durable platform to transfer power to the bike...
Hope providing the drive components, with their EVO cranks, chain guide, and Pro 4 hubs.
Martha's custom Gowan Girls frame protection adds a personal touch to her bikes as well as helping avoid any unnecessary scratches.
Keeping all the essentials onboard, with a spare tube, CO2 inflator, and water bottle strapped to the frame.
Another essential, particularly for the Tweed Valley, is the Mudhugger mud guard, helping to keep Martha's vision as clear as possible in the sloppy conditions.
The WTB Deva saddle providing the comfort between race stages .
Marzochi providing the suspension platform, with air upfront and a coil in the rear.
