First grompage now this, it seems like pinkbike is trying to tell us somethin...
Kudos to all those groms out there who can send it bigger than a 20 year old
my dad has been taking me out on the trails since i was 4 years old. this summer i turned 14 and surpassed him in most riding skills. he still can do the longer things better than me but i am now a faster overall rider than him. it was the best feeling in the world to surpass him
@bikeriderfomportland that's a rad accomplishment. But don't ever forget how cool your old man is for getting you out there in the first place. One of the best slices of advice I've ever received, that has rang true time and time again, "Youth and enthusiasm are no match for old age and trickery."
And while he may be whinging about you leaving him behind and such, he's probably incredibly stoked for you. My 12yo still has a bit to go on that front, but following him down and watching him railing turns with a sh!t-eating grin easily ranks at the top of my list of good things in life.
Great article but it would be nice if you showed pictures of some kids like the ones you wrote about. You know, kids with clapped out bikes and shoes etc. Instead we got pictures of kids who shred the bike park every weekend and have all the right gear....that's cool and all, but not what you wrote about.
@inverted180 Ah mate, I fully agree, and thought the same thing as I was stitching this one together. Only trouble is, those kinda groms a little more few and far between lately... and when I do cross their path on the trails, the last thing I want to do is interrupt their ride for a photo!
The groms at Sunpeaks are like no other groms I've ever seen. Absolute shredders. Boosting everything. Great thing you guys have going on there. Dylan, Tippie, Ace, Matty Miles and all the other coaches, props to you.
SHRED HARD, great bit of nostalgia...started riding with my son on the mountain trails when he was 9 on a hard tail. he's 3 years into it and i can barely keep him in my sights. shawn melnechuk, dylan, ace, tippie, matt miles..keepin' it real. see ya'll next summer
