Most of us have some sort of riding opportunity accessible from home; it may not always be the best riding, but a shortage of free time in the day and the ease of not having to load up a car sometimes makes a hometown ride the best option. Luca came to us with an idea to show just that. After we pre-rode his local loop we agreed it would make for a unique edit that many of us can relate to. Lucky for us, our friends over at Vigil Films were just as excited about the idea as we were and wanted to partner with us on this project. So we give you, Suburban Settings.

Filming a suburban assault.

Lucky for us all the spots we filmed were only a short walk from where we parked. Contrary to most shoots we do where we're hiking several pounds of gear up and down the trail.

Filming a suburban assault.

Vigil Films on the camera and microphone, Suspended Production on shade duty, and Luca Cometti kicking it sideways.

Filming a suburban assault.

Bike friendly line, sorry skaters.

Actual mountain bike trails only took up a short amount of the edit. Shoot, review, repeat was the name of the game as we squeezed the last amount of golden light on Day 1 of shooting. Everyone was in good spirits throughout the days of shooting, no mechanicals, no crashes, and no broken camera's...success.

Enjoy and let us know what your local loop is.

Nice and flowing just the way I like it! Nice to see people doing urban biking that is normally only done on BMX/Dirt jumper bikes.

How is it nice doing urban biking on a mtb when it's so much better on a Bmx

Serious... Dude? Because it is fun...
  • 7 0
 Because it's subjective @Dude1005 , That's how.

 It's cheating
  • 10 4
It's not cheating? City riding on a suspension rig is way more difficult. However I completely agree that if I'm heading out through the town I basically am always on my 20 cause curbs, ledges, and everything else is way more fun.

Cheating? I didn't know there were any rules? So if I ride my mt. bike through my neighborhood with my kids how many points will I be docked? Only golfers are worried about cheating @Dude1005

Golfers are a bunch of cheaters!

 What a great video!

I ride my mountain bikes in the urban setting for the same reasons shown in the edit. I ride the streets; I ride the trails; I ride the jumps. All in the same ride and on the same bike. How boring it would be to only be one thing. And how poor the bmx would be on the trails.

Bit of Dan Croll and some sweet "Urban Trialy Traily" riding, like it.

This is standard San Diego stuff. Rad trail, road connector, crazy fast rocky chute, DG path, sweet 5-10 minute XC segment, road connector, another crazy rocky chute. So much good stuff out here if you know where to look.

Those are great trails for being a high density housing area. He rides right past my old house in one of the shots.

I found the mood sad on some level. I've lived in places that lacked elevation, it gets old real fast. You try to be like Danny Macaskill, or in my case at the time, Hans Rey, but you ain't, so the scene gets old fast. Bike is overbuilt too for the terrain. Kinda-like driving a tank over a soccer pitch, you can do it, but you could also make do with so much less. Sorry don't get why folks love this vid.

Rider killed it. Videographers killed it. Concept killed it. Awesome work!

Yeah, great, real-world shredding. And the eucalypts give it a very Aussie feel too. Love the twilight local rip!

Some fun, SUPER short segments, but the value is far more worth it up north...Cali riders have no integrity...no values

Scripps must run that town. The little league and the elementary school were both named after them.
  • 1 0
The town, many schools, the research institute, local college, hospital etc were all named after the same historical figure.
