After the U23 racers got between the tape yesterday it's the turn of the Elite to start their racing in Snowshoe with 20 minutes of flat-out racing. Check out the results below.
As well as both the commentators hyping Schwarzbauer's season win as well as the "overall winner" and "champion" graphics on screen after the finish and still during the interview, where he himself said he indeed hadn't won it yet.
It was a nice break, actually. Didn't realize how tired I was of that guy Ric continuously droning on. He should take a breather every now and then. It was kinda cool to hear the sounds of the track and the effort the racers were giving (with the sound of their breathing).
Absurd that the producer decides to show us drone shots of woods and the usual slow-mo faces instead of the racing. I belive we had to wait til lap 4 of the mens race before they bothered to show the leaders going down the down hill trail.
There seemed to be issues with the stream for the first half of the women's, with the stream skipping half a second every five seconds or so. Cutting the commentary seemed to fix this. Later a producer or technician's mic was live and could be heard on the stream, they were discussing swapping cables or something to fix the issue.
I can't speak for Eurosport or Discovery+... but if you're watching thru GCN you can choose "natural sounds" commentary track and watch the entire event with no commentary.
Not sure if they were course marshals, scorers, media spotters, or whatever, but what was up with the constant on-and-off whistle-blowing on some parts of the course? Quite annoying and distracting, and hope they cease and desist with that for the XCO event.
I’ve been an XC geek for decades and have never observed this.
As a card-carrying member of the PB Usually Indifferent Non-Race Fan Contingent, I never thought of privateers in the XC discipline as it seems to be more talked about in the eduro/DH disciplines. But to have 5 privateers place in the top 40 across two elite classes is pretty exciting. Especially when you're less than 20 seconds behind Pidcock and ahead of Mat WhatTheFluck.
So glad Alessandra finished in front of Lecomte. If anyone saw Ale's slomo clip of being put into the barricade last week you would feel the same.
She Looked Pissed.

He's in his BORA-hansgrohe kit? LOL
Gotta a love a great all around cyclist! Great to see him doing well again.
Ale's all over the bike all the time. Her front wheel doesn't wander much.
Unlike Lecomte.
