Lazy man's question: Can the rider lists be body text instead of screen shots? It would be much faster to find fantasy riders via the 'find text' function.

Cheers!

@TwinPinesCo: That's true. But I think it's less work to just look at 4 last names on your team (which you should be able to remember) and then look at the start list and see if they are there vs hitting ctrl F and then typing each name. Then repeating for 2 more names.

@TwinPinesCo: Stupidity is not a trait. Easy to Google unless you're lazy

@averagerug: LOL! Tried the AI-function in Windows to pull text out of the photos.

...I'm not sure AI is taking over all of our jobs just yet. Big Grin

Am I the only one that still looks to see if Rachel Atherton is racing?

Stoked to see Minnar's name.
  • 3 0
That was the first thing I checked. I really enjoyed watching her race. But I also enjoy when she's in the commentator booth!

@rallyimprezive: Yeah, she really is great at that. Tawnee Seagrave was also really great to listen to during hardline.

 @grnmachine02: Agreed - Tahnee was a natural.

@grnmachine02: I really enjoyed Tahnee’s giggles when Rob gets all excited.

This would be so much nicer if it was in searchable format. Like pdf.

PinkBike is a HTML website. This was how most websites looked some 15-20 years ago. You'd be hard pressed to find any sites still using this code-base.. Adding a simple pdf into an article is probably as difficult as making MS DOS from scratch..
  • 2 0
@EikSkaloe69: Basically all websites use html. And adding pdfs is really quite easy in plain html, you can just embed it. And yes, you're right, you would indeed be hard pressed to find any websites using only html as their codebase. There's basically none, any pinkbike definetly isnt either. Pinkbike uses css and js for sure, you can see it in the elements of the page. Css for styling ofcourse and js for making api calls to load comments and extra news. But besides that websites that implement a feed like pinkbike are using web frameworks because theres so much data and complicated systems to manage. Its basically certain pinkbike is using frameworks as their codebase, only mad people would try to build it without.

@EikSkaloe69: "Adding a simple pdf into an article is probably as difficult as making MS DOS from scratch.." OMG - Not even close Wink These images on one hand look OK, but on the other hand are sooo unreadable (eem unsearchable). I reckon that these images are scans of an actual PDF document(s). So embedding it or just linking it would be really nice touch. Pinkbike does seem to really look like it looked 15 years ago Big Grin . And it's kinda cool.

Regarding "HTML website": In the end all server-side or client-side code produce HTML (dynamic part) in combination with static HTML content that we enjoy "consuming".
  • 1 3
@Merijn1: try to upload an article and you'll see what I'm talking about. You need coding abilities. This means there is like zero back-end on this site..
  • 1 0
@EikSkaloe69: I've never tried that before, and damn is it primitive. But its not html, they use proprietary elements. I assume its for safety reasons, although im curious if html injections would work. There has to be a system parsing the custom elements to html/css, that means that there in fact is a back-end. This system icould actually be considered a cms, although a primitive one at that. And you could say you need coding abilities to be able to use it yes, but its a bit of a stretch as its coding in the most basic form possible. I find it weird that they haven't made a system with ui for the elements yet. I would assume having a system with ui to take the user data would probably be easier to make than having a system that parses the proprietary code, although that might've been different when pb was created.

Careful what you ask for, they might start using Scribd again to post this stuff up.
  • 1 0
 @Maxcommencemal: whats scribd?
  • 2 0
@Merijn1: if you really want the answer it'll probably cost you a soul destroying user experience.

Definitely went straight to the "G's". Goldstone / Gwin. Notta. I'd love to see them both in the race. For different reasons. One current, one nostalgia.

Anybody know why Conor Fearon is not racing again?
  • 1 0
My guess is he doesn't commit to the full season

Lot of heartbreak at Leogang for Fearon.

Still no Goldstone? Anyone hear any updates?
  • 6 0
I haven't heard any updates, but I thought he was going to be out for the year.
  • 9 0
He tore his ACL and MCL in February. I wouldn’t plan on seeing him back this season, but I suppose there’s always a chance for something later this season.
  • 2 0
At 15:20 in this podcast with Andrew Neethling (from just before Fort William) he says about the injury that "it's going to put me out for pretty much the whole year": www.pinkbike.com/news/jackson-goldstone-junior-phenom-to-elite-success.html
  • 6 0
His Instagram this morning looks likes he’s in Spain , he maybe travelled to Europe with the team , but I don’t think he’s racing this year , pretty gnarly leg injury ..
  • 7 0
There's no point in rushing recovery with an injury like this
  • 2 0
I think he will be at the race as a spectator as I'm almost sure he's at redbulls medical centre this week and it's only about 20mins from the trail centre!!
