The first round of the British National Downhill series is over and with less than two weeks until the opening round of the World Cup, most of the top UK riders were in attendance. In the elite men's race, Matt Walker would take the win with nearly two seconds back to Saracen teammate Danny Hart. Gee Atherton would take his second third-place finish aboard the prototype bike.

In the elite women's race current world champion Rachel Atherton would pilot the new Atherton DH bike into first place with an impressive 6.76 second gap to Tahnee Seagrave in second place. Everyone has been wondering if the prototype would be up to speed by race season and Rachel has definitely proven that it is not going to hold her back.

Rachel wins (by miles), Gee gets a third and Dan gets decent time at Sea Otter. That bike not too shabby after all..

Everyone thought that tahnee had caught up in the season after Rachel's shoulder injury. She was just working her way back to her form as we saw at world champs. She's an incredible women's athlete.

Elliot Jackson was saying on the Downtime Podcast that Matt Walker is going to do well this season. Could be a consistent top 10 or top 15.

Good to see Brendog in the top 10..Hopefully he gets some good results this season.

Was there yesterday, the track was insanely fast all day and it was no surprise to see Matt Walker take top spot after blowing everyone away in seeding. Expect big things from him this season. Great to see Katy Curd getting back up to speed and a good run from Aston Tutt, too.

Congrats to Matt Walker, Danny Hart and the Madison Saracen team. What happened to Laurie Greenland though? Crash?

I was watching about a third of the way down and he looked pinned. It's such a tight and choppy track the tiniest thing could knock you offline and cost you, so maybe just unlucky. This could be BS but Rheola looks like it favours bigger wheels which LG doesn't have. An old track, there's huge holes between roots and rocks to rob speed
