The 2022 World Cup XC racing continues with the seventh round at Snowshoe.

The Women's racing kicks off on Red Bull TV at: 12:00pm EDT (9:00am PDT, 5:00pm BST, 4:00am +day NZST)

The Men will start on Red Bull TV at: 2:30pm EDT (11:30am PDT, 7:30pm BST, 6:00am NZST)



Elite Women

First up in the Elite racing is the Women and after the incredible short track race on Friday we could be in for some exciting racing. We are missing quite a few riders this week with only 36 riders, but we are still sure to see some great racing today.

9:21 am PDT The Elite Women are off with Jenny Rissveds leading into the first lap.

9:24 am PDT Jolanda Neff is showing off her skills in the wet as she masters the tricky conditions. Jenny Rissveds has made the most of leading into the woods as she starts creating a decent-sized gap.

9:26 am PDT Rebecca McConnell is having a nightmare start to the race as she is already 47 seconds back.

9:27 am PDT We now have a group of four at the front of the race led by Jolanda Neff. Kate Courtney sits just a few seconds back.

9:29 am PDT Jenny Rissveds takes back the lead as the fog is starting to get really thick.

9:32 am PDT After the first lap the top five are

9:35 am PDT Jolanda Neff is flying through the wet woods making it looks easy.

9:37 am PDT We now have a US chasing group of Haley Batten, Kate Courtney, Gwendalyn Gibson and Savilia Blunk. They are around 13 seconds back at the moment.

9:41 am PDT Jenny Rissveds is putting the power down to build a three seconds gap at the front.

9:50 am PDT Alessandra Keller is setting a rapid pace but we still have a three-rider group at the front.

9:59 am PDT It looks like we may be getting some rain soon. If it comes down hard it will be interesting to see if it shakes up the race.

10:01 am PDT Mona Mitterwallner has made her way back to fourth place after a slow start. Mona is still 45 seconds back so it will be very tough to close this gap before the end of the race.

10:03 am PDT It is now raining on course let's hope this won't cause too much carnage.

10:06 am PDT Jenny Rissveds is starting to open up a gap at the front, could she be handling the wet weather better than the other riders?

10:11 am PDT Jenny Rissveds is unfazed by the rain and is still looking fast through the woods.

10:17 am PDT A lapped rider starts pulling out in front of Alessandra Keller on a fast downhill but luckily is easily avoided. That could have been a lot worse.

10:37 am PDT Alessandra Keller looks to have the win as she has sprinted to a 17-second lead. Jenny Rissveds seems to be slowing down slightly.

Elite Men

Next up is the Elite Men's racing where once again Nino Schurter will be on the hunt for a record-breaking win. Nino did have a massive crash in the XCC race so he may not be in contention for the win today. There is some very heavy rain at the moment in Snowshoe so we are definitely going to see some carnage on course.

11:50 am PDT The Elite Men leave the start for eight laps with Titouan Carod leading.

11:57 am PDT Filippo Colombo leads with Alan Hatherly and Christopher Blevins following closely.

12:00 pm PDT Disaster for Filippo Colombo as he gets a rear flat tire. Alan Hatherly now takes the lead.

12:01 pm PDT After the first lap the top five are:

13:08 pm PDT Christopher Blevins is attacking hard after building a decent gap on the first downhill but Luca Braidot isn't letting him go without a fight.

13:11 pm PDT The front four riders are now back together, this is going to be a tough end to the race.

13:12 pm PDT Titouan Carod and David Valero Serrano have launched attacks. Christopher Blevins goes with them but Luca Braidot doesn't have the legs.

13:13 pm PDT Who will win, Blevins on home soil or Carod and Valero's first World Cup wins?

13:14 pm PDT Christopher Blevins has been dropped, we will see a brand new World Cup winner today unless something big goes wrong between the top two.

 Little plug for Sandra Walter in the women's XC. Never hear her name mentioned since she's not anywhere near podiums, but she was born in 1980 and is riding the full world cup calendar this year. She was the last rider to finish on the lead lap today, in 24th place. I know there have been other riders on the circuit in the past who were still getting big results in their later years (Gunn-Rita, Spitz and others) but the average rider age seems to be getting younger, so props to her for keeping motoring on.

 Its absolutely insane watching how relaxed Rissveds is when riding. Doesn't matter the terrain or pace, she just always looks composed. Amazing to watch.

 @Augustus-G: Both winners Keller and Valero are, as far as I know, the tallest riders in their respective fields. Just a weird quirk I think, but an interesting one. To win XC races usually means the highest power to weight ratio on the day. At her size and similar power to weight as other top women riders, she must be putting down a lot more power in absolute watts.

 @Mntneer: he said he started cramping really bad on the last climb... Such a horrible feeling when you still have the lungs to go hard but your muscles won't cooperate. He might have been a water bottle / salt tablet away from victory!

 @bkm303: I saw Blevins "miss the bottle" on the second to last lap feed zone. I am not sure if he was able to grab "the second bottle just in case" in the feed zone that Specialized usually had. In any case, Specialized Feed Zone Team was *on fire* Sunday. Blevins with glasses switching (behind the back into the crew), water bottle for cleaning derailleur (at least twice that I saw), and regular bottles held gingerly from the top (like it's supposed to be done)

 With a little more experience riding world cups she can probably become a consistent contender for high placings. The U.S. women did a great job out there today stacking the top 10 finishes.

 What a race! Gutted for Blevins! Would have been epic if he could have pulled out the win.

 When he pulled a gap through one of those last singletrack sections I thought his comeback from the flat was complete. Would have been incredible for him to pull off the Snowshoe double. All signs point to him being in a position to fight for other wins in the future though. Valero did a great job of burning his available matches at the right times.

The sport will undoubtedly be poorer without Rob Warner (for next season at least), but it's to early to call it over.

As @HankHank says, there's plenty of people capable of calling a race that have lots of experience with the sport and the riders. At least give it a chance, if you dont like it then PM me. I can film the race on my cell phone from my TV and send it you. I'll make sure to only catch half the camera angles for you. I'll even cut out the feed every min or two for a second and make sure to miss any actual thrilling moments so you can feel like you're still watching Red Bull.

 @jtorrento: from what I've read he's staying under contract with Red Bull but no idea how long he's signed for. If Discovery and Red Bull are discussing his contact there's no way they'd say anything until a new deal is signed anyway, never say never

 @mrkkbb: The women in the 3, 6, and 9 places of the World Cup standings did not make the trip over from Europe. There are a couple of other riders like Ferrand-Prevot and Frei who are not in the top 10 but often pull some good results. Based on this info and the fact that the U.S. women generally looked like they had very good form for this race weekend, it probably wouldn't have made much of a difference. Maybe some pushed down a couple of positions, or maybe not. Results go to those who show up on the line. Woulda coulda shoulda is meaningless.

 On the subject of American women, Hannah Otto is listed as only 10 minutes back, but wasn’t she the one in the Team USA jersey that the leaders lapped on their third lap? Bart said she must have had a mechanical to be lapped so quickly. I really don’t see how she could have gotten back on the same lap as the leaders after that.

 @mrkkbb: no question lecomte, prevott, richards and others would have likely placed top 10 and therefore pushed people down. But I literally can't remember the last time 4 American women placed in the top 15 or even top 20 either. This is a resurgence no matter how you slice it.

Also if lecomte is skipping north american races every year then that is who she is and it isn't just an injury or whatever. She is not willing to race the whole season.
