The UCI currently follows IOC rules that transgender athletes must have total testosterone levels below 10 nmol/L during and for at least 12 months before competition.

The debates about transgender athletes, inclusion, and fairness are contentious. As these conversations unfold, please remember that there are other people at the end of your words. We expect the comments on Pinkbike to be respectful and constructive.

Specifically, please don’t violate our terms of use, which state that any hate speech or personal attacks will not be tolerated. Transgender advocates, social media platforms, and other media companies consider misgendering and ‘deadnaming’ (using someone’s former name) as slurs and personal attacks.

The aim is not to censor conversations or ideas, but just like other slurs and personal attacks, misgendering and deadnaming are not welcome on our platform. Violations of Pinkbike’s terms of use may result in comment deletions, suspensions, or bans. Any harassment, bullying, or incitements to violence will result in lifetime bans from the site.

Scribd sucks. It crashes my phone browser. Pretty useless. Is there some reason pinkbike uses it? Do they have to?

 SCRIBD SUCKS
every time I see it I think to myself "isn't there a better way?"
Honestly just plain text for top 20 and a link to a PDF for the rest and you're better off

Scribd sucks. I don't have a valid complaint but want to jump on the hate bandwagon.

Thank you for ALL the free content and coverage, but please listen to the V.O.C.; improve on this user experience--I know you have UI/UX designers and they have to be cringing when they see this. again, thanks for everything as i don't want to sound like an ungrateful brat, but let us help you so you can help us and in turn we help you with continual viewing support.

Haven't tried this on a cellphone but it works fine on a computer. That said, the download button is odd. It isn't really a download button. Instead it redirects you to another website out of plain sight, gives you pop up that requires you to sign in. You just can't download it without signing in. You want to scream for help but no one can here you there. Pretty shady...

Scribd is the absolute worst. Every time I try to check times it crashes my browser. This is getting ridiculous..

Didn't have problems with Scribd before, but somehow this year it's causing my phone to freeze and crash. Not cool.

the whole Pink Bike platform is outdated..

IM PISSED! Matt Walker is racing and qualified 11th, but nooo Cathro had to go say he won’t race and I took him off my fantasy team????
  • - 1
 Cathro said he was racing.
  • + 1
His trackwalk video said he was out, the practice video changed that to "injured but battling through"
  • + 8
Let's change the things, use Scribd for UCI statements and show us the list in readable way

what actually happened to loic? qualified 100+, starting in 41st... did he have the big off in qualies? or some kind of tactical thang to get run in as soon as poss before the course gets chopped to f**k?
  • - 3
Charlie was 80 something. I wouldn't doubt it if some of the protected riders took it easy in qualies to reduce their risk of injury. These guys can obviously let it rip, and a few points probably isn't worth it with regards to the overall

Both Charlie and Loic flatted. Really impressive times with a flat actually, both had one for at least a quarter of the course!
  • + 10
Loic had a massive crash check out Rob Warners instagram scary shit
  • + 1
@Johnnytightlips: jeyeysus!! I think that was started because of the flat rear ?
  • + 1
Watched the video on here with the finish line interviews. Didn't see Loic crash but his helmet did look modded at the finish line. At least he made it down somehow, so that is good in a way.

 Mitch for President.
  • + 3
I still have no clue how this start list works, Minnaar and Shaw in their qualifying positions so how far does actual qualifying count before the protected story kicks in.Sure going to be interesting with Loic probably on the hot seat for a long long time, even he Will get tired of drinking RB
  • + 4
And I can’t see them because I’ve already looked at Qualies cheers scribd
  • + 5
YO PB,QUIT USING SCRIBD ! Its shit and everyone hates it
  • + 4
stupid scribd, useless on anything other than full pc. does scribd pay people to use it!

"Transgender advocates, social media platforms, and other media companies consider misgendering and ‘deadnaming’ (using someone’s former name) as slurs and personal attacks."

Science advocates don't matter, I guess. Women's rights advocates, either.

If I want this sport to still exist for women in 20 yeas when my daughters grow up I suppose thats hate speech and violates the terms of use.

The debate about fairness vs inclusion is a critical conversation to have in sport, we just need it to happen without slurs and personal attacks.
  • + 1
@brianpark: surely the easiest way to settle this is have Open category open to everyone. Then have elite ‘born as female (BAF) category?
  • + 3
The real debate will start when trensgender women start winning in sports that have millions of dollars at stake, e.g. tennis.
  • + 6
@brianpark: Sad day when saying "there is overwhelming scientific evidence that men have a distinct advantage over women in sports" is considered a personal attack.

Sad day when pinkbike and others capitulate to organizations that require us to deny reality in order to avoid "misgendering" and their convoluted definition of hate speech.
  • + 2
@brianpark: how are facts hate speech and personal attacks, especially when they don't belong in the race anyway?
  • + 1
@iamamodel: Transgender women have been competing in international tennis since the 1970s, makes for an interesting read.
  • + 1
@rad8 @hamncheez there's zero issue with you making those arguments. All we ask is people don't insult or disrespect transgender athletes.
  • + 1
Oh man ! When I see the names of the last guys we'll see going down tomorrow, I am excited !! I'd love to see Blenki winning...
  • + 3
Yeah, Noel Niederberger, way to go!
  • + 1
Might not be terrible to start early. The lower part of course is only gonna get worse as the day goes on.
  • + 2
It shouldn't change too much for the most part. There's only a short section of softer trail.
  • + 1
How did Greg not qualify a while back and Loic did this race? Im lost now...
  • + 6
Greg isn't a protected rider as not in to top 20 overall last year. Loic is protected so regardless of where he seeds he qualifies
  • + 1
Oh man gutted for Phil Atwill. Just outside finals by a fraction second race in a row! That dude needs some luck his way
  • + 1
No protected rider inside the top 40. Scribed is as good as square wheels
  • + 1
YOB. Year Of Becoming pro. Dang! Some of these kids are older than me.
  • + 1
 Where da hell is gwinn
  • + 2
Guessing his ankle isn't 100% yet... Maybe holding back for when he really needs to race tomorrow
  • + 2
 He hurt his ankle again
  • - 1
@Medacus: starts 47... Means he qualified still in top 20
  • + 2
I saw Gwin limping when he was pushing his bike after his qualifying run. He's definitely still injured and I'd be surprised to see him do really well tomorrow.
