UK Brand Forme Bike has been the victim of theft as eBikes were stolen while in transit on Friday.

Forme has reported that a number of eBikes were stolen while being transported from its Italian assembly unit and its headquarters. Not every bike was stolen from the truck but the report says that it was the higher-end Bosch-equipped bikes that were selected by the thieves. Forme says the Alport, Black Rocks, Shottle, Peak Trail, and Repton models were among those taken. The press release says these bikes were already sold and reserved by customers.

bigquotesThis theft of e-bikes is really sad news for both our retailers and end consumers," Flanaghan said. "We can only apologize for the disappointment this undoubtedly causes. Forme Bikes communications director Lee Flanaghan

This comes as another incident involving lorries being raided this year as 10,000 Bikes worth of Shimano kit were stolen in Germany and 127 Giant eBikes taken from a container in England.

If anyone has information about the incident then you can contact Forme here: customer.service@moorelarge.co.uk // +44 (0) 1332 274242

Thieves will just remove the motor and battery, add an R to the decals, then sell them on as former ebikes.

Can't the company click the "HOME" button on their website and the bikes pedal themselves back to their owners?

 Who? Sounds like insurance fraud.

How is it again that w/ multi-multi-grand $$$ ebikes that airpods or whatever tiny tracking devices aren't secretly mounted in any of them...or are they?
  • 3 2
Agreed. Bikes (E or analog) retail for $5-15k. The fact that they don't come with some sort of embedded security is preposterous - especially when they are in transit/shop inventory, if not once purchased by consumers.

@KJP1230: Heard. I'm not on ebike nor plan to be in the short term but it seems like the frame at least could have something (and the buyer could then just takeover the tracking on that too). Even for standard frames. Seems like it could be pretty easy to pull this off.

@Mtn-Goat-13: Especially since they already have an onboard computer/bluetooth integration and can be controlled with an app... GPS chips are cheap cheap cheap, they could be integrated into the onboard computer run of internal battery and be controlled via app. It really is a huge opportunity.

Like the microchip they implant in dogs. So if someone finds a bike they can take to the local vet who can scan it and return to owner.

Hahaha no self respecting thief steals a proper MTB anymore, just ebikes.

 Kinda suspicious, like free advertising

Yep. They’re a UK based brand (Asian made product) that have been around for about a decade. They actually also do quite a bit of grass roots stuff in the UK, like kids CX racing.
