Jackson Goldstone to Miss the Fort William 2023 DH World Champs

by Ed Spratt
Jackson Goldstone has been the benchmark in the Junior category thus far but he s got his work cut out for him this weekend.

The Santa Cruz Syndicate have confirmed that Jackson Goldstone will be missing this year's World Champs as he is still recovering from surgery.

After undergoing appendix surgery last month Jackson Goldstone has not been able to make a quick recovery in time for Worlds as the process to get back to racing is taking longer than he hoped. In its social media post the Syndicate say Jackson is "on the right side of recovery and we’re already looking forward to having his energy back in the pits."

bigquotesReally sad to not have Jackson Goldstone with us in Scotland. Luckily he’s on the right side of recovery and we’re already looking forward to having his energy back in the pits.

Luckily we have part-time model @wmb149 on hand to showcase the outfit for Fort William fashion week.
Santa Cruz Syndicate

We wish Jackson all the best with his recovery and hope he is back between the tape soon.

I'm super bummed that I will also not be able to watch him race.

I am also bummed. This is a bummer man.

 that's a double negative

@mikeyfresh1990: Yeah, the joke is that the UCI makes it so hard to watch a race, you can't watch it anyway.

@ompete: Any idea if it's on the iPlayer so we can definitely live there and not have a proxy?
  • 2 0
@Murder-One: To access iPlayer here in Australia , I have to use a VPN and have an BBC account that aligns with the location of the VPN. So VPN in London , account using a London postcode.

@Murder-One: iplayer is blocked outside of the UK Frown

Bummer but no rush. He’s got a long, likely mega career ahead. No need to take extra risk.
  • 17 0
Yep. Long term health > one race, even if it is World Champs.
  • 2 0
Thanks for saying that. It's so true...
  • 6 0
 But are you gutted?
  • 4 1
 @NYShred: Not like Jackson.

I am sure he is gutted but I wish him a speedy recovery and would rather see him at full health after worlds then cause an injury to a fresh surgery at worlds. He has a long career ahead of him with many worlds to come so I am glad he is taking time to heal.

I really hope "gutted" was intended to be a pun.
  • 2 2
@adrennan: Yeah man, that would be way over the line if you meant it that way.
  • 3 1
@adrennan: I didn't even think about it when I posted it this morning. But I can see it now and it was not intended.
  • 2 0
All good. Was being facetious my friend.
  • 4 2
 Are you gutted as well?
  • 3 0
@NYShred: So nice to hear something other than gutted for once on here
  • 11 0
Dang, but understandable. Had my appendix out a few weeks before him and definitely wasn’t up for high-intensity stuff until quite recently.
  • 2 0
I had mine out 6 months ago, got a hernia in one of the incisions even after taking 6 weeks to recover. So yeah glad he isn't racing I was worrying for him.
  • 4 0
Huge bummer!! Having gone through the same surgery 2 years ago it took me 8 weeks to get back on my bike, even though the surgeon told me it would closer to 4 weeks. I didn't have any set backs, it just hurt like hell when I started breathing heavily
  • 5 0
Come on. He will survive to that and we will survive as well. He's got so many years in front of him to be 10 times world champion if he wants and can. Good recovery young champion!!
  • 7 0
C'mon Santa Cruz , let Ben race....if the clothes fit......Smile
  • 3 0
Not up to Santa Cruz. Up to the countries they represent.
  • 5 0
Jackson's clothes definitely won't be fitting Ben haha
  • 5 0
@jgoldfield: That would make for some solid entertainment though...
  • 3 0
That stinks. But it's smart. He has a real shot at the overall this year. Better to focus on that. He's got a lot of world champs left in him. Big hit for Canada though. Least they still have Finn.
  • 2 0
 And mark, Jacob, etc..
  • 5 0
 @Roost66:

True. Jakob Jewett is looking pretty fast.

They've got Kirk McDowell, Forest Riesco, Anthony Paulson, Mark Wallace, Gracey Hemstreet, Rachel Pageau and Eva Leikermoser.

Plus the juniors. I'm looking forward to seeing how Dane Jewett does.

Canada sending a lot more than the USA... I think... LOL!

Kuhn from Canada and Pinkerton from the USA both have pretty good shots at junior world champs. So that's cool.
  • 4 0
@onemanarmy: most realistic shot at gold is junior with Dane, Teagan and Bodhi . Brock Hawes maybe be a sleeper. In elite Finn is always in the mix but could be up to 10 guys that are always in the running each week. Such are a hard category to pick but I have a feeling on Loz.
  • 1 0
@bgoldstone: Think best shot is Kuhn....

When you gonna race worlds?
  • 8 0
@onemanarmy: uh not at any time soon. I’m their uncle not Bailey. Although I did race the Whistler bmx worlds back in the day. #bmxbackground
  • 1 2
@bgoldstone: so you are actually a goldstone????

@onemanarmy : is gwin gonna be racing?
And no, I have not looked at the entry list.
  • 8 0
 @Roost66: all my life
  • 1 0
 @bgoldstone: that’s cool, didn’t know that.

@bgoldstone: classic. Saw the b and assumed.... you know what they say about assuming.... LOL!

 No he's not.

Had mine removed the same week as Jackson. At least I’d just finished a week of riding in Nakusp and Kaslo BC before it came on. Hoping I’m good to go for fall riding.
  • 7 3
 Gutted
  • 6 6
No you're not. You're just feeling the feelings.

Noone in the US says "gutted". Poser.
  • 1 0
@NYShred: Not sure if you didn't get the joke or if you're just effin with me . . .
  • 2 0
That's a bummer, but it's inevitable he will win multiple world champs at this level.
  • 1 0
So great that they filled his spot for photos. I like the team pic with "Jackson". It's like a Power Ranger kind of stealth presence.
  • 4 1
Its ok prodigy child…… hardly anybody will be watching anyway.

GCN+ with VPN. Locked and loaded.
  • 1 1
CGN+ doesnt have the rights to Worlds...just the tour
  • 1 0
@lastminutetech: They have the rights to Worlds in some countries (hence the VPN)
  • 2 0
Had a feeling he'd miss it, what about Finn though, is his thumb still messed up from Crankworx
  • 1 1
This is sort of a relief, dude is so fast he very likely could have won and it would have almost been overkill for him to be world champion on his first year in elites.
  • 1 0
Sometimes I think it’s better to not have the pressure of being number one!
  • 1 0
He'll have to wait another year for his goldstone medal
  • 1 0
I'm actually super bummed over this news.
  • 1 0
Big bummer but longevity is key for sure
  • 1 0
Dayum! Shame, he'll get it later though probs
  • 1 0
Well now it’s anyone’s to win.

And FUCI.
  • 1 0
NOOOOOOOOOOO, say it aint so. Heal up Jack and let er rip.

@mfoga: Wisconsin. I had my procedure laparoscopically, which is a big factor if his wasnt performed with that method.

Was that back in the day, when a player suffering a major concussion was allowed to rejoin the game as soon as they were able to stand almost straight without too much assistance?

Didn‘t turn out too well for quite many of them.

Everyone's is different... don't know Jackson's situation but if it burst and dumped a bunch of toxic infected stomach juices into his body cavity, it's a much more significant recovery. Mine blew when I was 14... then got infected and needed a drain put in. Took me awhile to get back.
  • 1 0
@FuzzyL: back in the day? Lol that wasn’t long ago
  • 1 0
@LaXcarp: So was mine but everyones recovery is different, felt like they cut straight through some core muscles when I had mine done. Kept me out for quite a while, even once back on the bike I was not as strong for a long time after.
  • 1 0
@islandforlife: Or just a hernia, which means another surgery to fix that.
