Josh Carlson has announced that after 12 years with the Giant Factory team, this weekend's Enduro racing in Châtel will be his last.

After first joining the team in 2012 and seeing through the 10-year legacy of the EWS Josh Carlson has revealed that he will no longer be riding with the Giant team. In his announcement post, Josh states that he is not retiring and more news about his future plans will be revealed later this year.

bigquotesThe time has come to say goodbye to my @giantfactoryoffroadteam after 12 years. It has been an epic journey from the first North American Enduro series in 2012, the first ever Enduro World Series race in 2013 and now at the final E-Enduro World Cup of 2023. This team has meant a lot to me over the years and I’m proud of what we have achieved, developed and enjoyed.

This isn’t a retirement post and more details on my future plans will come later in the year.

For now, we’ll enjoy the last race with my GFORT team and send the season off on a high.

The guy is a machine, the work he did with the design and test on the 2022 Giant E Reign was awesome, made an absolute stonking machine with that one

Giant wasn't kidding when they told that Josh played a key role in the development of that bike. The bike is heavy, but you can't resist to smile all the way down, so much fun.

@irideyourtrail: That's a lot! I've barely done 1500 kms. This season, compared to last year's, I've racked up more mileage on my DH sled. Hoping to switch things around before the season ends.

The announcement reads like a "one-sided amicable split".

Bummer. I thought Josh was Giving Giant some good exposure with his EDR commentating gig - I suspect he'll be getting more air time 'cause he's good!

Oh no, we're already into the Lord of the Rings time of year again. Good luck to Josh, hope he's got something else lined up already.

NikeProof. Been apparent since 2021 on socials. And with Sam Hill will be an awesome EBIke team.

Such a nice guy and talented rider. Hopefully he lands somewhere awesome and maybe moves back to BC!

He and his wife are from Wollongong in Australia. They have a young family, so being close to the extended family in Australia (especially as Josh is on the road for months of a year) would be a priority.
