bigquotesIt's not over until the smoke clears, and the smoke has cleared. It's over. The grand finale of the UCI World Mountain Bike Series was everything we need it to be. Sleeper

Sleeper is the new Earthed! There, I said it.
  • 7 0
The earthed series is some of my favorite of the OG video epics. Race coverage was cool but the shots of the guys rallying down all the awkward and unique terrain out of race venue was always my favorite.

If this comment resonates with you, you’ll also remember that you’d wait for a year to get the equivalent of a Raw and one of these edits per event, typically the length of a New Order or The Fall track.
Now? We have two Raw’s, this (CP made his own videos back then too, but I like the style he’s adopted here… Rankin loved dogs too), the juniors final (first year we can watch them), more practice vids from Moir and Ed and anyone else who puts up a vlog (miss you Gas to Flat… another Earthed alum), then the elite semi final. If you want to wait for results, you can then look at the top three race runs and highlights a day later.
Great content every day and all for free.
Don’t get too caught up with the idea that the commentary isn’t the best you’ve heard (Aaron aside).
It’s a great time to be alive.

@RobbyRideGuide: Yes to all the above, except semi's can get f*cked
  • 8 1
Here’s the problem: NBC can make a 5 hour flat Tour de France stage exciting with good commentating and great production. Discovery can’t make a thrilling 3-4 min race run worth listening to or watching.
  • 4 1
@doctorpritchett: I dunno, the TdF is pretty dull a lot of the time, and this season has been incredibly exciting despite Ric & Cedric's lacklustre performance.
  • 3 1
@doctorpritchett: i think alot of people arnt going to be in agreement with you on that one......i cant imagine much thats less exciting than a TDF stage.
  • 1 0
@Torbo24: I think a lot of people will disagree with you about a road bike stage being anywhere near as exciting as a dh race. Smile Different strokes though right?

So good Sleeper Co! Let Kade ride!

That drunk idiot ran onto the course about 40 seconds before Jackson rolled through. Props to security for the takedown and to clear him out.
  • 5 0
Does anyone know if there’s a video of the full sequence of that takedown?
  • 3 0
 @snomaster: I too wish to see/gif this.
  • 15 0
@bgoldstone: the tackle is one thing, but literally rolling him off the track is pretty hilarious

There's many videos from people that were near that guy... they posted it on a french canadian facebook group but anyway the guy just wanted some attention I guess and went on the landing with both his arms in the air. They were beginning to yell ''jack-son, jack-son, jack-son'' and his name is Jason so in his drunk little brain he probably heard ''ja-son, ja-son, ja-son'' and thought that it was his time!! lolll Anyway, after seeing that video, Jackson wanted to know who was that security guy, to hook him up...what a nice move!! Smile

that dude was walking around earlier that day and just being a loud d-bag. He was very recognizable with no shirt and a pink puffy vest that is 3 sizes too small, and clearly needed all of the attention

Here’s a screen grab from my video of Jackson sprinting to the line. He almost ran over pink vest’s beer and you can see security pinning him to the wall in back.

Oh and yeah, people were all talking about this d-bag after and I saw pictures of him, walking with a tree trunk while going down the course and cheering for riders! LOL He was high as f*&k !!

Kade out there being wild, repping hard for Trek as always.

and then he wasn't allowed to ride finals Frown

Their work is so brilliant, hope they keep at it next year!

This one is great, but the snowshoe video is a masterpiece

Some of the scenes are identical in Ben's story of the race and the sleeper shreddits. So, I guess the sleepers are actually the Pinkbike racing media team?
That documentary of the season could be epic!

Why doesn't Kade go to qualifying? I heard it's because of his contract.
  • 10 1
Some sponsor conflict, i bet it's Pirelli, Kade hasn't been running them and doesn't even bother to black out his Bontragers lol
  • 5 0
 @jokullthor: that’s a pretty good guess
  • 3 0
As a downhill-watcher but not -rider: are pirellis so bad?
  • 2 0
@jokullthor: So, he's getting heat for running the tires that his paycheck (TREK) company makes? (Bontrager is a TREK brand).
  • 9 1
@yakimonti: pirelli is a title sponsor for the team this year (for whatever reason). They’re likely not happy they paid a bunch of money and one of the more camera facing athletes refuses to run their tires.

Guess is they told him run the tires or don’t race and he wouldn’t do it
  • 7 2
@BamaBiscuits: Sounds likely. I'm a huge Kade fan, but he probably signed a contract that finally caught up with him. Guessing it's his last year on Trek and he pushed it as far as he could.
  • 6 1
I'm not sure, but the footage here of him on track, riding a trail bike with no number board, piss pot helmet and no pads could have something to do with it.
  • 4 1
Probably helmet related, rather than tyre related..
  • 2 0
@BamaBiscuits: Ahhh, I did not know they use pirelli...wild.
  • 3 0
@commental: Good eye - missed that one. Poaching probably pisses off the UCI even more. Even local races will pull your card for that.
  • 2 0
 @commental: that was after qualifying.

Apparently Kade wore a Fox / Red Bull helmet (most likely because he crashed his helmet) Team is sponsored by 100%.

Fox helmet is lent from Jackson, so I guess he just took that one as a replacement helmet. I Guess the team most likely didn't bring a red bull replacement helmet to the north america rounds.
  • 2 1
@BamaBiscuits: Is any of the downhill trek athletes running pirellis? I thought they all run blacked out bdontragers or maxxis, but maybe kade then running non-blacked tires? Isn't also this something the mechanic will do for them anyway? Still confused about why he was banned really.

So sick! Imagine if the boys from dialed series came together with sleeper co and made a full series following all teams. Production quality from both those teams with what I can guess is fairly limited budgets is second to none.

 Dude Kade

What an edit! Music choice is bang on as per. Loved the cheeky fisheye shot (more of that please Smile )

 # long live chainsaw. Jackson Goldstone is the New Gold. Well done kid. You’ll get Bruni’s cup soon enough. Looking forward to what the future holds for Canadian DH racing.

What the god damn hell was that sleeper co!! Don’t tease me like this , edit on fricken point !!!!
  • 2 0
What a final! Amazing! I do wish there were more races in the year - bin the semi's off and just add another date!
  • 2 0
I hope none of the riders were injured in the bridge collapse from Saturday night!
  • 2 0
No they were all inside. People were waiting (and dancing) for a long time on that bridge because it was already full inside so they were not letting anybody inside. There was 17 persons injured. Another sad story for Mont Ste-Anne... I hope they are all fine now!

Compare this with the UCI "highlights" video....

Who was the dude who ran on the track?! Didn't know that even happened from the live broadcast
  • 1 0
Either Bob or Doug McKenzie, I'd guess.
