Wtf - looks like the exploding front wheel hasn’t held BK back at all…
  • 24 6
He's had such a good season. It would be a shame to let a broken hand keep him from taking the one win he knows he has in the bag. Those guys are not only riding on another level - their pain management skills are insane.
  • 10 1
@ct0413: localized pain injections are a thing. I have had a fair number in my athlete days. They really let you perform through some ridiculous injuries, but you have to stay aware of the fact whatever is wrong is still wrong, lest you really and permanently f*ck it up.
  • 17 0
@ct0413: plus a win at Hardline is £15k prize.
  • 11 7
 @cypher74: small fry to kerr
  • 30 0
I'm not sure who's impressed me most. BK for qualifying 1st with an injury or Gee getting 7th when it's his first race back and he's supposed to be just cruising.
  • 13 0
@cypher74: that's at least the gas for the ride back with the pivot team bus
  • 7 0
@Upduro: He’ll still hve another 3-4K to pay with UK fuel prices
  • 4 0
@endorium: Not sure I'd say that.
  • 3 1
@Jordanh604: have you seen his net worth?he has done extremely well for himself. Fair play to him.
  • 5 0
@endorium: we’ll he sounded quite impressed with the amount when he was interviewed by dean Lucas, considering his second place WC DH podium only got him €1600.00 and the winner of a WC DH only gets £3k
  • 3 1
@endorium: you actually think the network estimates are accurate? And even if they were it’s not the money in the bank it’s everything he owns and doesn’t take into account that everything might be on credit.
  • 3 0
Well it looks like king Kerr is still reigning champ.
  • 6 0
@ct0413: I've been wanting to BK to win a world cup all season! He did kick ass though. I hope he takes hardline.
  • 5 1
@ct0413: "in the bag" come on dude, its freaking hardline. Nothing is certain in any race, let alone this thing.
  • 3 0
@endorium: don’t think 15k is small to anyone currently.

Well done bru’s who started. BK is a monster! And will always want to win this event. As knarly as it gets beside Rampage.
Racers don’t get the invite so Dan come up with something.
Get that sh!t you Sickhead’s!!!!
  • 4 0
 @cypher74:
Considering how stingy BK is I'm sure he'll be riding hard for 15k
  • 1 1
@inside-plus: “in the bag” simply meaning he has it in the bag. Doesn’t mean he will pull it out of the bag, but he knows he can win this race. World Cups on the other hand he doesn’t have a history of winning.
  • 2 0
@cypher74: net worth is exactly what you are claiming it's not: net value. Assets minus liabilities. Any debts are accounted for.
  • 1 0
@endorium: Long gone are the days when the bailiff’s come knocking . Sorry BK , that was funny though !
  • 1 0
@conoat: On Jono's vlog Bernard says he's taken Naproxen, which is a pain killing anti inflammatory. I've used Naproxen when injured myself. It'll help, but it won't completely mask the pain, he'll still be hurting..
  • 115 1
How the f*ck is Gee in a top ten qualifying spot after everything? Way to come back and then some. Gee is just made out of something incredible. What an inspiration.
  • 88 1
I've heard he's made out of 3d printed titanium, carbon tubes from NZ and possibly has a 6 bar linkage somewhere.....
  • 2 0
The Dr @ his birth has an explanation for this.
  • 12 0
Aye and I bet he finishes higher than 7th as well. Insane. He almost died last year. Hard, hard man.
  • 10 0
He's a physical beast but his mental game is insane. Straight up almost died last year and now he's top 10 on the hardest track in the world? Insane. And just like, gonna keep goin huge. F'in awesome.
  • 5 0
@gemma8788: I mean that's what gets me, his mental game is just, wow. There's no way to really describe his fortitude.

  • 7 0
@chrismac70: that’s not true. This track is not open or maintained all year.
  • 5 0
@chrismac70: he hadn't hit any of the new stuff before the event. Kerr was the first to attempt most of it this year.
  • 3 0
@darkstar66: think Gee and Dan just started printing parts for themselves (nothing humane can take the punishment in their riding so started swapping out bones for ti and carbon mix) and then thought…. I reckon we can make a bike out of this lot!!!
  • 3 0
@jaame: how many pro’s from ufc, football, rugby, cycling, athletics, driving etc see that crash on a reel and thought ‘I would never go again’.
We all ride the same line that takes us for progression. Can’t say many other sports are even close to the progression, commitment, confidence that’s in mtb/slope/bmx.
Gee will do well bcse of the breed that’s in him
  • 3 0
You could say the same about Brook. They’re tough for sure.

Tell me again, why doesn't Kerr have a Redbull Helmet?

Unless he doesn't want one it should have been a no brainer years ago.

What a legend. Keep it upright tomorrow lad!
  • 60 59
cause he doesn't want sponsored by a company that makes poison ?????
  • 8 0
Maybe he will receive it on the podium tomorrow?
  • 5 1
Bird-gnar Kerr. Red Bull gives you wings (TM)
  • 16 3
@mtb-scotland: Agreed but they are certainly a huge media company in their own right now and have done some good, upto you if it outweighs the bad but nobody is forced to buy a £2.00 energy drink.
  • 35 9
LOL. As if shilling for a soft drink company was some sort of very aspirational privilege. Being paid by Redbull to wear their logo on your helmet is not an achievement, it’s a business decision.
  • 4 0
Agreed. It would take some seriously strong morals not to have one. These guys have a 15 year racing career if they are lucky , so they need to earn enough to see them through.
  • 9 1
Red Bull only sponsor a set number of athletes per sport/discipline per country, all those GB Men's spots are already taken.

I believe it is Kade and Laurie who have it.
  • 14 1
@Muscovir: Is picking up a sponsorship deal not an achievement for the rider?

Riders have mortgages to pay too you know, and very short careers.
  • 3 0
@Muscovir: a good one at that!
  • 10 1
Judging from his recent appearance on Dean Lucas' podcast i think he might not have the most possitive attitude towards RB.
  • 7 1
@waldo-jpg: really i watched it and seemed it was more the UCI he has a problem with!
  • 3 0
So, all my points are covered here. The value of a sponsorship like that can be huge. People have bills etc and it can't hurt. But, as we've seen many times, personal opinions or morals dictate alot of who athletes are happy to represent. So, if he would wear one, its amazing he downstairs yet have one - or similar.
  • 5 2
Because he doesn’t want to be associated with them. Judging by his car collection he ain’t short of a few quid
  • 4 0
@Muscovir: that’s what sponsorship is.. we pay you to wear our goods as advertising..

@conoat: well said. It’s like some people comment just for the sake of being contrary or doing their very best to post shite. You don’t have to agree with what they’re selling, but only the most one-eyed gobshite would choose to ignore what a RB helmet means to an athlete.

@justanotherusername: couldn't GAF about the royal family (who are German/greek anyway). Old rich lady died I didn't know. Sad for her family but quite a few other old ladies are going to die this winter because our government cares more about energy companies than the people they are meant to represent. @conoat being american explains pretty much everything.
  • 1 1
Does he need it? Think he said before #drinkwater? Successful Team manager, successful YouTube, insta guy, plus all the redbull work and other spono’s he’s reaping from? Bonus’s from pivot if the team does well…… and it sure he’ll does!! Most pivot stuff is company bought or sponsored.
Not sure he wants the lid or even if he needs it?
  • 1 2
@paulmurphy1989: Finn isles and Jackson also have red bull helmets
  • 5 6
@mtb-scotland: Carbonated Water, Sucrose, Glucose, Citric Acid, Taurine, Sodium Bicarbonate, Magnesium Carbonate, Caffeine, Niacinamide, Calcium Pantothenate, Pyridoxine HCI, Vitamin B12, Natural and Artificial Flavors, Colors

Which ones are poison?
  • 5 3
@Grosey: The dihydrogen monoxide bit. Too much of that and it's lethal. No joke.
  • 8 6
@Grosey: red bull is not good for you. It is marketed towards children. It is not just red bull but monster and other “energy” drinks as well. They can cause increased heart rate, insomnia, jitters, headaches, weight gain, increased blood pressure, withdrawal symptoms if you don’t have any and let’s not get onto the issues when you mix it with alcohol. Energy drinks are not good for you.
  • 5 0
 @mtb-scotland: damn it...there goes chocolate....
  • 2 1
@Grosey: Have you not seen what too much Sucrose and Glucose does to people?
  • 3 1
@mtb-scotland: I don't think it's marketed to kids. Pepsi, Coke, Mountain Dew way more. And all those effects are pretty much the same for coffee (which is f'in awesome and also fun when you mix it with alcohol). It's all about moderation
  • 9 1
@mtb-scotland: All those side effects would either be from irresponsible consumption or having a biological sensitivity to caffeine. If you drink a reasonable amount as a supplement to one’s normal meals and hydration, they’re completely fine. Do people have no responsibility to regulate their own usage of substances??? Pretty much anything CAN be dangerous if you’re stupid or ignorant enough
  • 2 5
@Chondog94: caffeine is not required by the body. It is a drug purely used for being a stimulant. Have you seen the e reputation the USA has for stupidity and ignorance?
  • 8 1
@mtb-scotland: have you seen the reputation Scotland has for alcoholism and drug abuse? I wouldnt throw stones from that glass house of yours. Most of the US drug addicts started with prescriptions.
  • 7 0
@mtb-scotland: also, the rampant sectarianism in Scotland doesn't make it the most amazing place in the world either...the only place I've ever been told I can't wear a sports Jersey in case it caused some violence.
  • 5 1
@humoroususername: Reminds me of walking into a pub near Dalbeattie. As soon as we walked through the door a guy barked at us "This is a Rangers pub!". I was going to say I follow a team that's actually good at football, but thought better of it.

flag mtb-scotland (Sep 11, 2022 at 2:43) (Below Threshold)
@humoroususername: yip and its well earned but we don't have a reputation for being stupid which is what was being discussed above. Also sectarianism is generally limited to two sets of football fans and not the general public. There is nothing to stop you wearing a sports jersey.

@handynzl: There goes chocolate bars. Chocolate is quite bitter and not very nice without all the sugar that you need to put in to the bars. few grams of dark chocolate each day helps your mind.
  • 3 2
@mtb-scotland: If you had decent reading comprehension you would’ve noticed the context in which I placed Red Bull as having a purpose- as a supplement, not a necessary component of any person’s life.

Stupid people are everywhere. Stupid is relative. I care little about generalizing an entire country, it is not useful.
  • 2 2
@Chondog94: trolls like him tend to pick and choose the exact sentence or word they want to respond to within an entire post and ignore the rest, despite relevant points being made. You can’t win with these idiotic narcissists. Just watch. He’s gonna focus on the the word narcissist and try to respond with a version of “I know you are, but what am I” classics from the Best Of Narcissist’s album available now at Amazon Prime Music (TM)
  • 1 1
@Chondog94: still isn't a supplement. What exactly is it supplementing. Supplements are concentrated sources of nutrients. A vitamin tablet is a supplement, protein powder is a supplement. Red bull is not a supplement. cake is not a supplement, fizzy juice is not a supplement. If you are going to call people stupid at least try not to be stupid in the same post. Stupid is not relative. Learn what words actually mean before using them.

True. With Rampage you can create easier (or harder!) lines and tailor them to your skillset.

Hardline has no options, it's tough to imagine preparing your mind for any of the features, let alone linking them together, and then adding a clock.

He withdrew from the event. Massive respect actually for that decision. Why risk your life in Redbulls bloodsport Colosseum if you’re not feeling it? Just so they can make a buck?
  • 26 2
@Muscovir: Not sure why fans get this impression that riders do these events purely for Redbull, or even for money in general. Yes, it obviously helps. But I can guarantee 100% of those riders would still attend even if they had to pay out of their own pocket to do so. It's an honour to be invited and ride that stuff.
Same goes with Rampage.
  • 2 0
Oh ok good decision one broken bone a season is enough- still would have been good to see him…

  • 2 0
@markcorrigan: agree, watching the vlogs, there is so much camaraderie and good vibz, I don't know how anyone who loves DH and freeride wouldn't want to be a part of it!
  • 5 1
@Muscovir: Yeah, Red Bull are awful in the way they support extreme athletes, The list of mainstream companies that do more for mountain biking is endless. Hopefully Discovery will take over and make it safer for the riders. They can then compensate by creating fake scenarios to make viewing more compelling, like they do with many of their other shows. Whilst charging us to watch, for completely altruistic reasons of course.

Some stats: presuming all the names listed above start tomorrow (including the DNSs and DNFs), and not counting the four first timers: 36% of Red Bull Hardline participants (20 out of 56 participants) in the now 8 editions of this "race" have NOT returned for a second time. This includes 3 world champions (Danny Hart, Loic Bruni, Reece Wilson) and a 2 WC race winners (Mick Hannah and Brook MacDonald) . The only two riders have won a WC and participated at this event more than once are Gee Atherton (2x world champ) and Laurie Greenland.

If they have some major mechanical issue they probably can’t get it fixed or get new parts, etc. I wouldn’t be surprised if he cranked his frame or something like that. It’s not something he would ever admit to publicly if it did.

@sino428: I don't doubt for a second that he didn't want to race, he'd admit it.

That being said I'd be surprised if they couldn't get hold of a part which would prevent him racing. With all their connections in the pits even a new frame (or simply a demo bike which he could refit) could be acquired pretty easily.

@markcorrigan: possibly, but I don’t think this is the kind of race where a rider is just going to jump on a demo bike they aren’t used too and hit 90ft jumps. He’s probably only riding his frame or nothing at this point. I mean if he cracked his frame yesterday afternoon, even if they could overnight a hike to him, it not getting there and built in time to race.

@sino428: you might be right. Fair enough, but still a shame and probably could’ve made it work if he really wanted to.

@markcorrigan: yea like I said, I can only assume these guys are already on the dry edge of their comfort zone just riding this track. Changing anything that would make this setup feel even slightly different is probably a no go at an event like this.

@markcorrigan: Kerr cracked a frame (the Martini sadly) and has swapped to his spare, not sure he has another. They almost need motocross bikes with the engines removed for these features...

 Where is Kolb?

Decided that the big jumps were a bit to much for him so he withdrew.

 Bernard Kerr is the BOSS
