Red Bull Medellín Cerro Abajo in Colombia, is a race packed with treacherous obstacles from narrow staircases to tight urban corners. Riders must endure around two minutes of gruelling descents to be the inaugural winner of this event.—Red Bull Bike
Watched this straight after the first 3 seasons of Narcos. So glad there's something completely different Columbia gets to be known for. Hope they will have some EWS rounds again, it was great to see how much beautiful terrain they have for biking, definitely bucket list material.
Can attest, Colombia has some fantastic riding some the most diverse and beautiful areas of any other country. The food and juice are incredible as well. Its a shame most people can only think of their rough history 30-40 years ago.
@scott-townes: Thx but... I checked their insta... looks more like a "tour" on a bike rather than actually MTBing
I know that Colombia doesn't have much of a hiking or biking trails the way CAN and US, but this looks like just riding a bike on a farm roads pretending to be an MTBer.
@valrock: Yeah, they mainly deal with people who barely ride but chat with the shop, everyone that works there is super chill. They shuttle you up, provide lunch, a small walking tour around the wax palms and then you ride. One of the guides brought me down la Alegria which is rowdy, while the rest went down the dirt road. Apparently there are a lot of new/sick trails in Manizales as well now also so that'll be worth checking out.
I get the fact that most westerners really know nothing about Colombia, but a constant reminder of how dangerous communa 13 used to be and etc is just annoying. You should have focused on telling how did they manage to turn a shithole place into a tourist attraction. There is more interesting things about that city, it's geography and etc.
Cause you're talking about their coffee, right??

Or am I missing something?
