The Vermette kid seems to be really quick. Hope to see him on the WC soon
  • 16 0
He is racing with frameworks for junior WC next year
  • 20 2
 Who's this Steve Peat fella????
  • 9 1
The names familiar? Does he not make tire sealant or some other stuff? Guess he’s pretty handy on a bike for an old fart Smile )

Joking aside, so cool that he’s found his mojo again!
  • 1 0
@Monkeyass: Aaah that's where its from, didn't realise he was that good of a rider. Should have started when he was younger.
  • 1 3

  • 1 0
Crashed in practice so didn’t race.
  • 7 0
Did they race enduro? Any chance of a result sheet for that or is enduro forgotten for good?
  • 2 0
 Apparently Jack Moir won it
  • 1 0
Kinda how it goes for Enduro. I heard Moi Moi wan also....
  • 5 0
The enduro stages off the top of K1 are have gnarlier sections than anything on the Goat Skull based DH course. (Not that Goat skull won't catch you out)

I wish it got more coverage/attention. It's a challenging place to race especially when it's still wet up there.
  • 1 0
Looks like the enduro must have had a different timing company than the DH and Dual, so the whereabouts of the results are a bit of a mystery. As of earlier this evening the main race site did have any 2023 results yet.
  • 5 0
Stoked to see Dakotah and Aletha up top. Wyn and Neko are also looking fast.
  • 6 1
Can’t believe more WC teams didn’t attend this awesome event with big $$$ payout ($15K). That’s double WC money…
  • 1 0
 x5 wc money
  • 4 0
First place money is greater than WC money for 1st through 10th combined.
  • 4 0
That's close racing in the women's!!
  • 2 0
 Dak! And holy shit Asa
  • 1 0
@pisgahgnar: man. I thought “once finals start, the big boys will put the full gas on and Asa will be a couple seconds off the pace.” But Asa was up by a second until the last split when Dak made up that time to take the win. Crazy.
  • 1 0
Thanks! Uncle Greg pipping his Syndicate nephew. Sick one for Asa
  • 1 0
@pisgahgnar: I saw Asa b lining down the ski slope to make the awards.
It was hilarious.
  • 2 0
Rules stated top 60 only qualify if more than 80 registered racers... yet everyone was allowed to race. Typical USUC and change the rules afterwards.
  • 1 0
only 77 started qualifying. so i guess splitting hairs on registered vs showing up.
  • 4 0
 I once met Steve

I jet washed Peatys bike after qualis at Champery in 2010. Proudest day of my life.
  • 11 11
@puukkopedro: i polished his nob once…the least proud moment of my life
  • 3 0
@puukkopedro: I can imagine. I was sitting on his not released brand new Nomad V4 at a dealer event in Oberammergau Germany a few years ago. I used to live there and knew the local bike park people who introduced me to the Santa guys. I did not realise that it was his personal bike until he came in.
  • 2 0
 @Sebov: haha no way!
  • 1 0
@puukkopedro: He signed a GT UCI DH team hat for me 11 years before that in 1999 and he signed the same hat again 20+ years later. He did better at life than I did
  • 3 0
 Anywhere to watch this tomorrow?
  • 7 0
I believe there will be race coverage on YouTube after the race, probably Monday.
  • 1 0
 @commental: thanks

@ATXZJ: Race replay now up on Vital and YT.

I'm from Seattle. Back in '98 i think there was a world cup at Snoqualamie and Steve won! I sort of met him.
  • 1 0
Bryn Atkinson, Sam Hill, Andrew Neethling, and Loic Bruni are all examples of previous non-American winners.

if you don't think there is a "home track" advantage, you're an idiot! lol

now do all those french races w/the french racers....

The fact that the UCI DH is called the WORLD CUP, is laughable. more like the Euro Cup

What do Snowshoe results say to support this?! Not much from what I remember..!
  • 3 0
 PEEEEAAAATTTTTYYYY!!!!
  • 2 0
That Jack Pederson sure is fast! Surprised no one has picked him up yet.
  • 1 0
Wow! That jack boy is very fast. Imagine how much faster he will be once he has some support!
  • 2 0
 where are the enduro results?
  • 2 0
Is Greg’s nationality officially Andorran now?
  • 1 0
Good catch, hadn't even noticed that. I was going to say maybe dual citizenship and for some reason choosing Andorra for this race, but apparently Andorra doesn't allow those.
  • 1 0
Makes sense considering South Africa is currently collapsing that he'd move to someplace in europe.
  • 1 0
@davehuffstetler: I think he's been living there for a while, but still represents RSA. But like someone else mentioned here, there are a few riders who are listed under the country they live in, not in fact their official nationality.
  • 1 0
No spoiler, but it's good to see Sian Ahearn get a strong result. Hopefully, she'll remain on YT when Vali comes back.
  • 2 0
DAKOTA!!! USA! ASA on fire too!
  • 1 0
Why do Frida Rønning has USA attached to her name when she is from Norway?
  • 5 0
Perhaps the registration software was going off where they live, because US national champ Anna Newkirk isn't Swiss.
  • 2 0
 Collier Kee! Watch him
  • 1 1
How can we watch the race in the U.S.? When I Google searched I got GCN, but I went to GCN+ and it wasn't there.
  • 1 0
You can watch the Snowshoe World Cup next weekend on GCN+, so maybe it was returning that result for you rather than the US Open?
  • 1 0
vital's channel will have a race replay of this US Open sometime later monday. the gravity coop crew are doing it, they do the downhill southeast and us nats race replay shows.

It's just an open category, pretty rad to be in there with the top top guys and see how you stack up. One of the best parts of this race

There’s a cat 1 17-18 group and categories for all ages and genders. But the open is for anyone and that’s were the prize money is

  • 12 14
Steve Peat. Born in the early 70’s. Take that Millennials!
  • 36 4
Greg Minaar is a Millennial. Jackson Goldstone is not. You can’t just use “Millennials” in place of “Young People I Dislike”.
  • 34 1
You know you're old when you think millennials are the youngest people.
  • 6 6
 @BenPea: true

I used to think millennials were annoying until we raised two zoomers.

We do love watching millennials turn 40 though. It's like Christmas

“ We do love watching millennials turn 40 though. It's like Christmas”

This is gold hahaha
  • 2 2
@BenPea: quantity doesn't mean quality, in any generation.... but millenials wears socks in their sandals and crocs like boomers do, therefore: they suck.
