Please stay ‘retired’ from racing sick mick

Mick Hannah retires and still podiums. Retirement is treating SIk Mik well.

Cody does it for the Enduro Spirit!

 Cody and Amy…
  • 3 2
it would be an easy enduro course. hell, XC has tougher downhills.lol I raced Cat 1. only need to pull 11 seconds off my 2 min run to podium with the pro men!!! LMAO it was unbelievably sandy and loose. a few pretty serious diggers were taken this weekend.

What happened to Greg Minnaar? I noticed a DNS. Was he there?
  • 3 0
He might still be injured from the last World Cup. Busted his shoulder I think. It's a real shame for the GOAT.
  • 7 0
Ignore the last comment. He is fine now I'm just stupid.
  • 1 0
@chrisdog22: Good to hear he's fine. Just that with this top three, it would have been nice to see Greg Minnaar and Luca Shaw in the mix too.
  • 2 0
him and Luca did not show

 Nate Adams? The FMX legend?
  • 3 0
@dh-corn not that is Nate Adam’s the MTB freestyle pioneer. From Niner bikes.

@redmountaingoat: so the lame one then?

Vali in second, is that because she's riding her Fuel EX in a DH race?
  • 13 0
It’s not really a DH track
  • 7 0
Let’s just say that it’s so much of a DH track that Jared Graves won it on his Yeti 4x a handful of years ago. Just rode the bike he podiumed slalom on
  • 6 8
Looks like you had to be in shape to win.
  • 3 2
Well, Nathan Rennie won it on a massive full on DH bike & so did Mike King despite lots of mini-DH competition.

If you want to win it on a DH bike, you just gotta use your #torqueconvertor Beer

Could it be that Amy Morrison just is a hell of a quick rider?

@TumnusvD: insanely fit, and Vali is very not fit. no offense, because either am I and my time was 3 seconds behind Vali. lol
  • 4 4
@conoat: dick response, also, you got beat by 3 seconds on a 2 minute track. Give up now.

 @jclnv: lmao…what an unnecessary jab.

@nvranka: Sorry but she needs to spend some time with the Trek XCO girls to see what an athlete is. She’s clearly talented but do you think she would get anywhere near a fit Rachel Atherton?
  • 7 0
@jclnv: does she fade in her race runs? No, she extends her lead and then either podiums or crashes. That's not a fitness problem, that's a teenager problem.

@ryetoast: She’s 20 isn’t she? Regardless she’s about the same age Mona Mitterwallner... If she’s crashing at the bottom of runs then just maybe she’s tired from supporting excess mass? Just imagine who good she could be if she got in good condition?
  • 7 1
 @jclnv: You're an excess mass.

So if everyone is done hunting the comments for something to be offended/triggered by, just admit it's OK to discuss body mass in downhill & elite performance without it being an insult.

There is an advantage to having the most efficient body on the mountain made of lean muscle mass as opposed to being of a "softer" build. Extra body weight like what I've got jiggling or swinging around (or even too much muscle mass) can be detrimental to peak performance in DH.

3 minutes of sudden, intense adjustments while your body mass is under duress means your mass has to be as efficient as your bike. But we all also have different natural body shapes (mesamorph, endomorph, donutamorph, etc).

And it's OK for @jclnv to make a freaking joke for crying out loud. Vali is a downhiller born & bred. Sea Otter & places like old school Big Bear are where super lean, HYPER-fit powerful riders expose other athletes fitness level or lack thereof.

You have to be the fittest cyclist on the hill at Sea Otter. It's also fair to say that Vali did more with her talent and sprint fitness than some might have expected b/c we all know she got to party hard the last 2 weeks. Beer

Sam Hill regularly got smoked at Sea Otter in comparison to a real DH race, but a lot of other factors came into play & no one questioned his fitness, but his physique and skillset were NOT tailored to that hill.

Also, some pros don't actually blow themselves up at Sea Otter in the spring because they're still ramping up and staying on a specific training plan for the DH season. This being a fall party....WHO CARES??

@blowmyfuse: Who cares enough to write a six or seven paragraph rebuttal?
Hmmmmmm....

@Lemmyschild: you've never been on the toilet waiting for the passage to occur and needed to use the time up?

@yakimonti: hahahahahahaha. I am not a pro, nor a woman. I don't mind being 3 seconds slower than a person half my age, and is paid to be the fastest in the world. you numpty.
  • 1 0
@Lemmyschild: Probably but give me a few months on a DH bike and I bet it would be close. Now, give me a year to train my reasonably fit self to do an XCO race against Jolanda Neff, would that be close? No, she would f*cking destroy me because she is elite athlete in every sense of the word.
  • 2 0
@jclnv: why are you racing women in your fantasies? Oh, I get it.
  • 1 2
@nvranka: What? You don’t think women are capable? You sexist pig.

If this is retirement for Sik Mik then retiring he must!

Snooze fest but can’t say I’m sad to see Mik on the box!
