We use Slack as our workplace communication tool at Pinkbike and we have a #randoms channel which we use to share an assortment of videos and stories from all corners of the cycling world and beyond... We thought a couple of the moments from the past week were too good not to share with a wider audience, so here are some of the highlights.
Nove Mesto Speeding FinesAhead of this weekend's racing in Nove Mesto, the UCI sent a warning out to teams and media after a number of cars heading to the event had been caught speeding. It sounds like the racers are not the only ones going fast this week.

Are Jet Packs the Future of Mountain Rescue? | We proved you can scale a Lake District Mountain (3100ft Helveylln) in 3mins 30 seconds, despite very poor visibility that would have grounded a HEMS Helicopter. The Mountain Rescue foot response is over 70 minutes typically. The route was 1.2 miles and 2200ft of height gain.
This is the latest in a series of Paramedic Response Exercises to prove capability in parallel with training up real Paramedics to provide first response Critical Care in hard to reach geographies. Cardiac, breathing or blood loss cases are time critical and require rapid stabilisation to buy time for evacuation. This system, akin to the rapid response of a Paramedic on a motorbike in an urban environment, will be the difference between life and death for many critical cases.— Gravity Industries |
'World's First' Wingsuit ZiplineThis week we have another world first for Slack Randoms with this attempt at the new sport of wingsuit ziplining.
8 Savage Landings from Red Bull Flutag | Red Bull Flugtag is a flying contest like no other, where amateur teams try to fly their homemade machines through the air and compete for glory. As well as trying to fly as far as possible, the teams also need to make a splash with the judges, and are assessed on their creativity, showmanship and flare for design But it's basically a rule of physics: what goes up, must also come down! We've put together 8 of the most savage landings from Red Bull Flugtag— Red Bull |
Who Needs Chains?Juliano Neves is back with another wild mockup with this direct-drive specialized. The stem somehow manages to not look as weird as some of the
setups we saw in Albstadt last week.
TN has windrock. and then Missouri also has a gnarly DH park. There is just more to offer in the East.
Talk about suck...
Somebody who gets it!! Now that’s refreshing, especially on this site. I’m barely ever on here anymore, even as an avid Mtn biker my whole life. This sites so damn woke and libtard anymore it makes me sick.
I'm not really a puppet for the liberals suck, conservatives are fascist media narrative.
I'm more kill your television and act like you have manners.
Yeah, the south sucks. Please tell your friends.
Top destinations are usually red states.
Then again, he probably made out well vs. the cost to purchase and build, and that money will go a very long way toward a new property in TN.
Taking advantage of the market was probably a wise choice. Easier flights to Europe, too, as long as he continues to race.
The business climate is very tough unless you're a multi billion dollar tech/defense company, which is why I left. However, the lockdown/mask hypocrisy & craziness was the final straw for many of my friends and family. The latest data from Israel and the EU confirms what we knew (and apparently what the hypocritical politicians knew) all along: lockdowns and madates don't stop the spread of COVID19, but they were very effective at raising the cost of living, bankrupting small business, and enriching billionaires.
Feel sorry for you bruh
Historically, culturally, racially, topographically, the weather… literally the only systematic similarity is who they vote for, and even that is usually for different reasons. I’m personally a Mississippi transplant to the area and would never consider going back. They are wildly different places.

when you try to call an area stupid and out yourself as illiterate in the process. #winning

no clue what your other comments about hippies or Amish or livestock are on about, it read like you were having a stroke.
cheers
Oh and. @seedless now is a great time to display that you DM’d me just to insult me w no prior interactions. And then blocked me. Not sure what they call that where you’re from but down south we call that a pu$$y move. Good job son
Also @sterlingarcher…. How is CHAZ going ? And you firebombed the police stations in Seattle and Portland…did you get some fun “defund the police” badges….
Freaking idiots
Remember, the deep South isn't a fixed location, it's a mindset.
I’m fairly middle of the road all things considered, but I’d take the redneck as a neighbor over you any day.
The left only has emotion and narrative
Maybe he can try and apply to be a kindergarten teacher and talk to kids about gender identity…..
in 5 years when ivermectin is being used regularly because big pharma has made enough money, I'll bet you'll be pretending you never had this ignorant uniformed pseudo science stance.
Ivermectin has had over a billion doses in humans, and the founder/inventor of it won the Nobel Prize. Its saved millions of lives across the globe, and saved tens of millions of Africans from river blindness. Its an extremely safe and effective anti-parasitic drug, and has clinically proven anti-viral properties. Ivermectins effectiveness for COVID19 treatment or prevention is not yet understood.
Why haven't the moms and dads come to pick up these groms yet?
Everything has to be totally black and white, and black and white is decided by who is saying it and whether the desired conclusion is supported. Whether it is the truth or not is irrelevant. Weird place we've come to.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ivermectin
And who said anything about me patting my own ass and being "bright" about it - clearly parasitism is the key word in your comments here: zero logic, sniping, bitching, zero facts and 1000% hyperbole.
The issue is morons with zero med-science training or skill latching onto this (or any) med and claiming it should be used for covid when zero science / lit / study even existed about that in the med community that would suggest it works on respiratory virus and then various US russian state-news types blaring that its a "conspiracy" that drugs like this aren't being used to treat covid. That's the joke.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ivermectin
and again, my point is that you equating ivermectin to solely being used for horses is the same as saying other medicines that have dual applications shouldn't be used because of their original intended use. Just fyi, you brush your teeth with rat poison if you use tooth paste. SHOCKER!
www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8817475
maybe you should review more reputable sources than just wikipedia lol.
It's not a guarantee that ivermectin will kill covid, but saying "people who take ivermectin are taking horse medicine" shows how little you understand the chemical composition of most pharmaceutical or even OTC drugs. maybe once CNN comes out and backtracks on their statements you'll change your mind. Maybe.

in case you ever read anything besides the MSM and wikipedia
IE - your ScienceDaily link is from *2018*, before the pandemic, doesn't mention covid and is not a study in any form or even close. It is simply a speculative article, having referred only to a Nat-Academy of Science article (which is also not a study but a summary of the proceedings of a meeting) about using Ivermecton on Zika, and other mosquito-borne illnes - and it was shown in 2017 & 2018 that it does not help with these diseases.
But people don't read NEJM - the Wiki piece summarizes it well (as it does many things). The 'horses' use is the majority so it is correct but here - so sure, I'll take a bath on that generalization. My point: I'm not saying this because I saw it on the news but because I review & edit studies & peer reviews before they are published so yeah: its kinda in the wheelhouse.
www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMoa2115869 - this one is probably the best, illustrating how many people have been seriously ill & injured from taking Ivermectin for Covid. There are so many of these that its nutty.
Here's an article citing a composite of other artcles: www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMc2114907#article_citing_articles
BTW - what do you do that makes you an expert on medicine, science, and covid - or do you just like to berate people here like a teenager vs. having actual conversations?
"There are few drugs that can seriously lay claim to the title of ‘Wonder drug’, penicillin and aspirin being two that have perhaps had greatest beneficial impact on the health and wellbeing of Mankind. But ivermectin can also be considered alongside those worthy contenders, based on its versatility, safety and the beneficial impact that it has had, and continues to have, worldwide—especially on hundreds of millions of the world’s poorest people."
www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3043740
you have completely conflated my point with other talking points, my only point was that calling ivermectin "horse medicine" is like calling milk "cat food".
take your "technically correct but practically useless point" trophy and move on lol.

dang didn't work

That didnt' either
They do nail you to the wall once your income gets up above a million though by tacking on another percent to income tax.
And not really great place to raise kids anymore. It's quite sad and a failure.
Per Proposition 13, the standard tax rate in the state is set at 1 percent. However, the county has some power to make adjustments to the rate. Assessed tax rates in California range from 1.1 to 1.6% depending on county. My county has property taxes at about 1.25%, but also there are a ton of "special assessments" that add on another .2%. So, the tax rate ends up to be around 1.45% of the assessed value after everything is calculated.
Cheers.
Also it's somewhat daunting to invest your livelihood in an area prone to wildfires if the governor has committed to lettting the whole state burn to the ground every 4 years.

they just say 'oh well that guy is a white racist so I don't have to treat them as human'.
it's the hallmark of the intellectually lazy or outspoken uneducated masses.
sidenote I'm not white either so I kek everytime someone makes that assumption too
@SterlingArcher: lololololol incel and probably fat and short
You'd still need the casualty locating, that thing doesn't have the endurance to search nor the equipment of SAR aircraft.
If the casualty is located you'd need a good visual range else you could end up flying into a hillside.
What happens in the event of a failure of kit?
How much payload can the pack wearer carry to treat a casualty?
It's a solution for a problem that already has options; MRT/SAR/air ambulance have this area covered.
Sliding tax rate in Cali, the mega wealthy are in the crosshairs for the highest rates and they can get absolutely nailed. Which I'm ok with. Lower and middle income tax rates are comparitvely very low in Cali, for some income brackets among the lowest in the Country. Look it up for yourself.
And turn off Fox it's just making you dumb.
Turn on a proper news source.
As if that exists in a vacuum. Rather than just looking at Calis numbers for COL, it might be helpful to look at other states. Not just income but property, sales, county and city taxes… that will provide a more accurate picture.
