Dak has a 19 plate yet doesn't seem to have the P (protected) designation. I thought the top 20 were protected. If so, how is it that Troy Brosnan has the P? I am probably missing something here.

It’s top 10 from the previous year plus the highest ranked 10 not already protected. Currently Troy is 26th, there might be other riders from last year outside current top 20, so they get in along with 10 riders ranked higher than Dak.

He went home, there were complications with his newborn. The update was that things are going good but still I don't know how you can be away if that's happening.

I believe he was at all of the earlier rounds except Fort Bill, but hasn't travelled to North America.

I was curious about this too. I recall he didn't qualify for at least Lenzerheide and then hasn't been at the the subsequent races.
