The YT Mob returns after taking a break with a new team and an outlook beyond just racing.

At the end of 2021 YT announced the Mob would be taking a break in 2022, but for 2023 it's back and bigger than ever before.

Alongside Oisin O’Callaghan and Sian A’Hern in downhill, the YT Mob has now expanded into Enduro racing with Jack Moir, Kasper Woolley and Christian Textor onboard with a unique program where each rider has been given the freedom to choose their own components. The Mob has also brought on Dakoda Osusky and Emma Olfosson to represent the team in freeride events.

bigquotesI love what YT has built. They're not like other brands and remind me of what mountain biking is all about... Good Times! They've created an enduro program that offers the team all the support we need from every possible angle. We even have the freedom to choose our components, so we can use whatever parts we feel maximize our potential! Jack Moir

bigquotesI‘m incredibly pumped to redefine the MOB and bring it to the next level. Since we founded the MOB in 2016, it was always our goal to run not only our DH program under this umbrella but all our riders from all disciplines. The whole family! How a real mob should be.

Returning to racing at the highest level means a lot to me, and I can‘t wait until the season starts. It‘s our chance to prove once again that our bikes are not only made for hitting big freeride stuff but capable of winning the most important races.

But what strikes me most is that we managed to incorporate our UNCAGED philosophy into the YT MOB by allowing our riders to choose unique components of their choice. Our riders can spec their bike based on performance and are not forced to run stuff just because of sponsorship, so nothing holds them back from performing at their best. I‘m super proud that we’re the only brand offering this advantage to its riders.

Original YT Press Release:

Until now, the YT MOB was the brand's race division, an explosive team that thrived between the tape and rocked the sports landscape from the outset. From the moment they put tires to dirt, the MOB put YT Industries on the map with their unity of racecraft, personality, and undeniable talent, confirming their status as a dominant force within the race paddock. But all great things must come to an end. 2021 saw the MOB withdraw from competition; radio silence echoed as they mapped out their future.

Behind the scenes, there's been a shift in focus. A break in the convention. You heard it here first… the YT MOB is back. But it’s more than a race team. 2023 marks a new chapter, and they're here to make waves. Their athletes and ambassadors, across all disciplines, will be flying the flag for the YT MOB. From freeride to slopestyle and enduro to downhill, this diverse approach will see YT drive progression across all reaches, bringing their signature blend of Good Times along for the ride.

This new phase for the YT MOB will see them hunt the crown of a new discipline, enduro. There are no half-measures for the German brand, and their new enduro team is no exception. For 2023 and beyond, they set out to do some damage with three heavy hitters: Jack Moir, Christian Textor, & Kasper Woolley. This crew knows a thing or two about putting together a winning run and will bring their wealth of experience to the track under the YT MOB banner.

"I love what YT has built. They're not like other brands and remind me of what mountain biking is all about... Good Times!  Who's that Brett Tippie young fella on the team? Must be a up-and coming rider I haven't heard about Big Grin
  • 12 0
Tippie is the kid who embodies the whole spirit of freeride for me, all high fives, shredding and good times since the beginning

It's really cool they have Jack on the roster, but I'm honestly mostly excited to see what Christian Textor can do now that he's on a proper bike for once. He's been knocking on the door of Top 10 results in the EWS for quite some time now.

You can pick a longer seatpost now Jack!
  • 1 0
I think he likes his AXS so much that 70mm seatpost travel is a fair compromise.
  • 23 2
Yeah, a top 20 EWS Pro like Texi is just worth an "and more" in the title
  • 12 0
Agree but Texi maybe isn´t known that much outside of germany/europe despite his success.
  • 6 0
@FxBxN: I guess that might change if he gets mentioned in headlines...
  • 5 0
@bashhard: also will be on MoiMoi a fair bit. That exposure is worth just as much as headlines at this point

Running their own components will be interesting to see what everyone specs. I wonder how it will stack up compared to someone like Jesse who just changed up suspension and brakes for the new team.
  • 12 0
Be interesting to see just how much freedom there is. 31* riders all using different items is a logistical nightmare for races

*appreciate that all 31 aren't at the same races
  • 1 1
"Freedom to use their own components" probably just means that they will be doing individual sponsorship deals with component makers. These riders are too good to be paying for gear out of their own pockets.

Some oh my favorite riders on this team...stacked. Never been much of a YT bike fan...but it's crazy how seeing the riders you're stoked on shred a bike, the marketing works
  • 7 0
Exciting to see what components Jack and Kasper would build their bikes with.
  • 5 0
Finally the news everybody was waiting for - nice enjoy the season and rock on
  • 10 4
YT will very quickly become the team to beat at the races !

Curious to see how this comment ages. . .
  • 7 4
Uh oh I’m about to be a YT FanBoy again i bought a YT a while back because of Aaron Gwin and the other mobsters I like the image YT brings to MTBing just hope the warranty issues from a while back are better now
  • 12 6
You bought a bike based on what a pro rider rode?? I can't really wrap my head around making such a significant purchase based on that. I have, conversely, cheered for riders that were on the same brand of bikes that I purchased.
  • 13 0
@rrolly: Isn't influencing people to buy their product the ultimate reason why bike companies race? I don't think you can be surprised that marketing works.
  • 2 0
@rrolly: to the average rider most enduro bikes are more or less the same. Some people want to support the brands that support their favourite riders.
  • 2 0
@PetrolHead209: I bought my McLaren thanks to Kimi so I guess it works.
  • 1 0
@inside-plus: As an ex 12C owner good luck lol it somehow costs more to run one of those than an F430 and a Phantom. Get all the extensions for the warranty haha
  • 1 0
@inside-plus: Such beautiful cars. IMO, the nicest lines in that category.

@inside-plus: I bought my Lzzy Hale Explorer because of Lzzy Hale

Stoked to see Sian A’Hern on a factory team. From the looks of that team photo, she might be just a little bit stoked too.

That music. Rap to 80's sitcom to electronica to metal, to rap, to techno then back to rap.

Who thought that was all a good idea?

Of course it was going to be such a cool selection of riders to make up the Moi Mob
  • 2 0
Wow. Surprise, surprise. Jack certainly fits the YT brand. This will be fun to watch!
  • 3 0
I’m really liking the Jack and Kasper combo
  • 1 0
Stoked to see Jack and Kasper on the Capra. I think it's a bike that really suits their riding style. The geo should be bang on!
  • 4 4
Advice to anyone joining a YT team -- make sure you have a solid contract with no opt-out when YT decides they don't want to pay you anymore and have a solid Plan B when they break that contract anyway
  • 4 3
All enduro riders chose Zebs for their forks. Just goes to show, when pros are not forced to use fox crap, they don't. F Fox!
  • 1 2
CLEVER. That might be the best covered soponsorships ever for bike components brands... I would be knocking every night to persuade them... don't be absolutely naive pinkers...
  • 2 0
I guess they dont push on some brands along with YT, of course the can have sponsorship but the ones they pick personally.
It's pretty common: Rocky Mountain/RF/FOX in one package for example
  • 3 2
Let’s hope they have stock for them. The Enduro team will most certainly push the development of a new Capra.
  • 5 1
Not if you look a jacks enduro bike geometry preferences Smile
  • 5 0
@hardtailhowie: I wouldn't be surprised if he were to opt for a jeffsy.
  • 1 0
For some reason I thought Gwin owned the "Mob" team title but I guess I'm wrong
  • 3 1
YT is a mixed blessing -- exciting but aggravating.
  • 2 2
So freerider really means a person with a social media following? Or...I mean...the complete package. The whole package...

Did i mention the complete package?
  • 2 0
this squad means business. yt ain't f**** around.
  • 1 0
Stoked to see them continue supporting local New England ripper Peter Jamison
  • 1 0
Not a fan of YT by own experience, but will hope that the talent Kasper will have great success this year.
  • 2 1
Looking forward to seeing these folks ripping near asheville
  • 5 4
Yt about to make the best enduro bikes in the coming years
  • 3 0
Obviously they really meant it. The YT team concept is interesting, in a way with 31 riders it does feel more like a collective of supported athletes and maybe less of a cohesive team other brands are doing, hence the Mob moniker is very appropriate. I find the uncaged concept applied to top echelon racing intriguing. Each rider gets to pick the components that they want and YT is footing the bill. That is very interesting from a rider's perspective. maybe less so from the mechanics on the team perspective Shimano brakes vs SRAM brake bleed or BB and cranks... it is minor of course but in terms of gears it mean more tools and spares of each and as a result weight to transport to races. From a marketing perspective as long as it works for them it is cool. Bean counters may disagree at some point when the bill for tires gets out hand
  • 2 2
I thought Jack Moir was wearing tights under his shorts for a second…. Whew. That would have ruined my Tuesday.
  • 1 0
Yea moi moi !! Stoked for the mob
  • 1 0
Glad to see Kasper Woolley in the line up.
  • 1 0
Presumably the choice of components does extend to the frame brand
  • 1 0
I hope they come up with a YouTube channel circling around their team
