@Brasher: Even if you don't pause they're photos, only with a higher than perceptible refresh rate.

 XC bikes are so cool.
Running 120/100mm, 1.1ish bar (16psi) and inserts.
But.... that auto drop seatpost on the BMC is the absolute dogs danglies and looks amazing.

1.1bar was a surprise... but I bet those bikeaheadcomposite 1 piece wheels are exceptionally stiff, so nice to have some tyre compliance...

Just reading about that now - very interesting. Shame that it needs pumping up each ride though.

IT'S SO COOL! I wish I could put one of those on my bike. Maybe someday that tech will make its way into a seatpost you can put on any frame... So sick

@scantregard: These pros are skinny. the women are not much more than half my weight, the men about 2/3rds. even the "big" riders like Dascalu, MVDP and Shwartzbauer are about 75kg.
  • 1 0
@AyJayDoubleyou: i'm 66kg, i cant get away with pressures that low, my rims would be square... but its fairly rocky around here..

 nice read

SRAM Transmission on all of them? Assuming that choice is about money (SRAM sponsoring these riders), but I would love to hear what these pros think of it. The fact that none of them mentioned "I love the new SRAM transmission -- shifts so much better" makes me wonder if it was all hype.

Agree with previous comments on that BMC dropper, though. Who cares if you have to pump it up every 100 drops or whatever? Want.

They didn't say anything because they actually ride their bikes instead of standing over them.

Please come back to pictures and text instead of video witch bike checks. You can analyze to equipment better and it's easier to browse than the video.

BMC running 4 pot brakes. Don't think I've seen that before in XCO

Also the heavy 2mm SRAM discs on the trek and mondraker

"The name was inspired by comics.
Mondraker’s founder, Miguel Pina, is an avowed comic books fan. The name “Mondraker” was inspired by Mandrake the Magician, whom, Pina said, “Could create something out of nothing.” (Keep your bike looking and riding its best with our guide to Bicycling Maintenance and Repair.)"

Surprising the racer at the end running the carbon mag wheels wouldn't mention anything about them; they are not very common and it would be interesting to know why she chose them.
  • 1 0
They aren't magnesium wheels, they are bike ahead composites carbon wheels. This is a sponsor/supplier of the Ghost factory team so she likely didn't chose them personally. The handlebar/stem combo comes from the same brand.

It's surprising to see how much the brake levers position has changed in a few years, from 45+ degrees to close to horizontal. XC has come a long way since the early days...

The mondraker forward geometry makes that bike look great

 Integrated droppers are the future

I just realized the real advantage of 29" wheels is that they provide smoother dachsund rollover (5:54).

Didn't realize that was a new frame Avancini was on. Hopefully they beef it up after he broke a frame off a knee high drop.

 That Ghost is way cool!!

"No other bike has this type of suspension"
  • 1 0
The Specialized Epic has similar looking rear suspension but it is not the same.
  • 1 0
I never really thought about it much, but those bikes are a bit heavier than I realized. Interesting.

Does anyone know what remote lockout is being used on the Mondraker?

Love the no headset cable routing. Thanks for leading the charge XC, as usual you rule!
