Video: Eliot Jackson & Jono Jones Preview Red Bull Hardline 2022

bigquotesRed Bull Hardline is back for its eighth edition and has strengthened its status as one of the toughest downhill mountain bike races in the world.

Dan Atherton has spent the last year making improvements to the course – a brutal part-downhill, part-freeride track set in the heart of Wales's Dyfi Valley – which should make this year's event the hardest yet.

Join Eliot Jackson and Jono Jones as they take us through track walk and the nervous first hits on this petrifying track!

I have to say that as a competitions go, Hardline makes more sense than Rampage. I love Rampage but it's more of an artistic challenge to me.

Isn't it nice that we have both?

Let dan build one line at rampage that everyone has to do and judge their creativity and style

 @Korbi777: that’d be a rad contest.

@ottifant: for sure. Not gonna lie that I love Rampage I just feel its such a subjective event to be a "contest".

Yeah, totally agree and was going to say the same. It's become the best feature on the calendar. It's Rampage, Fest and World Cup rolled into one.

@Korbi777: What about a Hard line world tour, where groups of riders build a gnarly line and then the others come and ride it and judge it.

Bernard is a brave man, and as for Jes..respect!

Real (non trolling) question: Would that crash that BK had have blown up any wheel regardless of material? Carbon or aluminum. It seems like he would’ve made it had the wheel not exploded, no?

@PHX77: I don't think any rim would handle 100 feet to flat, landed back wheel first too. Not much would handle that I don't think.

@tvan5: true. I’m glad BK is OK but that would’ve been awesome to watch in super slow motion like the huck to flat videos.

@PHX77: I think the ground was sticky and he came down with too much impact and it gripped. You could be right.

I love the camaraderie at this event. In other sports, competitors would be threatening to murder each others dogs.

I’ve always thought the same about Hardline. It almost seems like the race itself is secondary to these practice sessions where everyone is just pushing each other and rooting each other on.

 Loved Jono as commentary.

Seeing Jono just standing on the big on off gave me the biggest clarification of just how damn huge that feature is. Dan has gone nuts on this build. I'm super super stoked on watching this, but hoping deeply that everyone stays safe.

For sale: Reynolds DH wheelset only used ridden once. Hubs spin real smooth. Front rim could use a true.

Jeeebus, how gnarly will the mountain bike season have to be before not a single pro makes it through without injury? Love every event, just want to see all these guys and gals keep at it till they’re at least Minaar’s age

Does anybody know why Andreas Kolb is not starting on Sunday ? I saw the updated riders list and his name isn't on there. Was looking forward to seeing him, hope he just pulled out and didn't get hurt
  • 1 0
Where did you see the list? Is there also qualifying results about somewhere?
  • 2 0
Saw the list too. Jackson Goldstone wasn’t on it but third in seeding. Would like to see the actual list too.

Saw on Instagram he pulled out, saying "I couldn't get my head around the new 90 footers" - don't blame him hah
  • 2 0
Just seen on his Instagram he’s not racing as he couldn’t get his head round the 90footers.

@lawrence-s: Can't blame him. When Kerr, arguably the King of Hardline explodes a wheel on a new jump that has to be pretty damn intimidating to anyone else.

Great presenting by Jono. Nice group Red Bull got together with him joining Rob and Eliott

If someone kidnapped your family and you had to race down a mountain to save their lives would you rather be at Hardline or Rampage?
  • 14 0
I’ll take Hardline, where at least you don’t have to dig your own grave.
  • 3 0
Do I get to build my own line at rampage? If so I’d say I’d probably chose rampage. Of course nothing is easy in the rampage zone, but with som creativity you could probably build a long winding line that would get you down without having to clear huge 80ft gaps or hit 40ft drops.

 Sorry family.

@TommyNunchuck ahh, they dead. I love my family, but they dead as much as I am attempting to ride either place.

Jono and Elliot did an awesome job fronting this video.

 Hope BK can ride...left wrist looks off :{

Does anyone know if it’s just streaming for the finals?

Is Adam Brayton Danny hart in disguise?

Gonna miss all this BTS content next year Frown
  • 5 0
Why would we not get this content next year? Hardline isn’t part of a UCI World Cup circuit. It’s a Redbull-specific event
  • 2 0
@pmhobson: Well yeah, I meant the BTS videos in general. All the ones for the DH races will be gone!
  • 1 0
@rad-but-also-sad: We don't know the deal yet though. There was still plenty of BTS stuff this year in the EWS so fingers crossed DH is the same. It's a huge part of the sport, MTB has grown up alongside the internet and social media.
