Got a bit rattled on the first corners and made a few slight bobbles in the woods but started to find the flow and see through the trees.— Jesse Melamed
@mattjolley: I raced it in the 100... the pace boggles my mind. the way hes carrying speed through the corners, corners which forced body position compromises to not hit trees, the way hes pedalling through sections where i was coasting because A) i was exhausted and B) the risk of catching a pedal just felt way too high.
@JesseMelamed: I guess if that works for you. Personally, I like to focus on trees and rocks & stumps painted orange. Look, you have brakes on the bike for a reason, why not use them constantly? Let me know if you need anymore coaching tips.
Seriously, that was an outrageous effort and simply breathtaking to watch (or actually breathtaking in your case). Can't help but think that section would've been a real handful had it been wet.
i was thinking the same thing. trail looks amazing. riding at that pace is pure insanity. cant imagine how they process things at that speed. its incredible
@JesseMelamed You're the freaking man! As usual your speed and control is unreal. Would love to see a bar end gopro cam to see how close you are getting to the trees. Usually gopro footage makes things look less scary but watching this video I found myself leaning side to side to miss the trees. Keep it up man!
Slightly off topic, but can anyone recommend light body armour with big secure pockets? ( for pump / tools / snacks ) or a nice jersey with similar pockets
Yeti Bib Shorts are the best I've found with all the build in pockets and storage- lots of pockets & can hold up to 3 waterbottles if you need (or light jacket, etc) and doesnt flop around and gives you whatever choice of jersey you'd like
Have a buddy that uses one of those G-from protection shirts. He really likes and had a pretty good OTB a couple weeks ago... came out unscathed.
As for pockets, I strap my gear to my bike and use a OneUp pump with all the tools inside it. Snacks go in my pants/shorts pockets and water bottle on the bike.
I was thinking the same thing. A DH track with 500 unpadded trees at the edges of the course. That middle section was definitely as steep as a lot of DH courses. Huge props to all the riders that sent it through that.
absolutely incredible.

Best of the luck the rest of the season Jesse!
It would have been slower in the wet so harder in some ways but easier in others.
Cannot even process the trail that fast....awesome stuff

I think year 2022 owes Jesse something really good.
Well done sir and thanks for posting these.
