bigquotesGot a bit rattled on the first corners and made a few slight bobbles in the woods but started to find the flow and see through the trees. Jesse Melamed

 My thoughts too.

@mattjolley: I raced it in the 100... the pace boggles my mind. the way hes carrying speed through the corners, corners which forced body position compromises to not hit trees, the way hes pedalling through sections where i was coasting because A) i was exhausted and B) the risk of catching a pedal just felt way too high.

absolutely incredible.

 That was seriously incredible.

 @me
  • 12 0
 Wow what a frantic track.
  • 9 0
 Good way to describe it.

Forget the otherworldly skill. How can a brain process the trees and the tape so quickly? Insane!
  • 66 0
Process what is not there, not what is there. The track is where there is nothing.

@JesseMelamed: I guess if that works for you. Personally, I like to focus on trees and rocks & stumps painted orange. Look, you have brakes on the bike for a reason, why not use them constantly? Let me know if you need anymore coaching tips.

Seriously, that was an outrageous effort and simply breathtaking to watch (or actually breathtaking in your case). Can't help but think that section would've been a real handful had it been wet.

Best of the luck the rest of the season Jesse!

@JesseMelamed: you by Yoda have been trained, sounds like

@JesseMelamed: This is an incredible way of putting it, in a way that I likely won't be able to effectively utilize.
  • 1 0
Right?! And they’re riding this basically blind—they get what, one practice run?
  • 1 0
@jackalope: haha yes I need more tips like that.
It would have been slower in the wet so harder in some ways but easier in others.

I can see @jessemelamed reading through these answers and responding, in his best Yoda voice, "This is why you fail"

That trail looks like a blast if I was riding like 50% as fast and took a few water bottle breaks.
  • 3 0
i was thinking the same thing. trail looks amazing. riding at that pace is pure insanity. cant imagine how they process things at that speed. its incredible

@JesseMelamed always kicks ass and while I know he is living full tilt I always enjoy listening to him breathe like he is dying.

 Breathing hard to not die

Unreal footage showing mind blowing speed as always. Thanks for continuously posting and keeping us entertained Jesse.

It’s because you enjoy it that I continue to post them!

Interesting that he copies my line at 2:10 and doesn't send it...that's the only thing we have in common.

Cannot even process the trail that fast....awesome stuff
  • 3 0
Haha thanks for the line then

@JesseMelamed: no worries, buddy. Happy to help.

@JesseMelamed You're the freaking man! As usual your speed and control is unreal. Would love to see a bar end gopro cam to see how close you are getting to the trees. Usually gopro footage makes things look less scary but watching this video I found myself leaning side to side to miss the trees. Keep it up man!

I don’t know if I’d want to see that! Probably so many close calls. I hit my hand guards a few times this stage though.

 Go on Jesse!

Slightly off topic, but can anyone recommend light body armour with big secure pockets? ( for pump / tools / snacks )
or a nice jersey with similar pockets

 LOL no.

Yeti Bib Shorts are the best I've found with all the build in pockets and storage- lots of pockets & can hold up to 3 waterbottles if you need (or light jacket, etc) and doesnt flop around and gives you whatever choice of jersey you'd like

Have a buddy that uses one of those G-from protection shirts. He really likes and had a pretty good OTB a couple weeks ago... came out unscathed.

As for pockets, I strap my gear to my bike and use a OneUp pump with all the tools inside it. Snacks go in my pants/shorts pockets and water bottle on the bike.

Jesse's riding is on a whole other plane of existence. It defies physics as I understood. Jesse - keep up the great fight! You're amazing!

Love it Jesse! Thank you SO much for the POVs - you are so fast and I am loving watching you rip it!

Good god, had to actually slow the video down so I could see what was happening, nice work Jesse!
  • 2 0
That’s some “Sulu” flyin’ skill right there! WARP speed!!!
  • 1 0
that is seriously impressive, especially knowing hes probably only ridden that stage once this year
  • 1 0
We have a phrase here: "Riding with the identity card in the mouth".
I think year 2022 owes Jesse something really good.
  • 1 0
Awesome nice to see runs like this one! You will climb the top step at an Ews overall soon

My old man eyes just saw blur. I did. Office that you missed a fun part at 2:11!
Well done sir and thanks for posting these.
  • 1 0
 Yikes. Quite a dangerous track.
  • 1 0
That is some serious athleticism! Basically a DH track then... wow...
  • 2 0
I was thinking the same thing. A DH track with 500 unpadded trees at the edges of the course. That middle section was definitely as steep as a lot of DH courses. Huge props to all the riders that sent it through that.
  • 2 0
 How?
  • 1 0
go pros make everything look faster and more steep right Wink ?
  • 1 0
Epic skill and effort. Congrats Jesse!
  • 2 2
 what the speed
