Certain mountain bike riders are blessed with special gifts. For some, that may mean a talent for line-spotting, for others it may mean the ability to rail corners faster and harder than anyone else. In Reece Potter's case it is the uncanny ability to spot gaps. Watch him shred Cardrona Alpine Resort in the video below.
Reece Potter is a 25-year-old Kiwi originally from Takaka, but he's lived for the last six years of his life in Queenstown. An apprentice builder by trade, he's trodden the well-worn path of his fellow speedy Kiwis and raced downhill in Europe, but he's now focusing on qualifying, so that he can travel a bit more extensively.— Red Bull
I guess the "sound of speed" doesn't include any braking sounds, which kind of bugs me. I'd prefer real sounds and do away with the foley artist stuff.
Nevertheless, this is such an awesome vid! Reece is an animal with finding the craziest gaps
@mtbmaniatv: Totally agree; I have to watch any video with him and this one is no exception.
Just don't know why they bother with spending money on fake sounds when raw raw videos like vital mtb's sound great (better). But it is no big deal; i'll happily continue to watch these, even with fake sounds.
@vesania: maybe there were helicopters or lift noises that were too loud in the background? I get it, just sounds like it's trying too hard like, "here's our hub noise for marketing purposes lol"
@mtbmaniatv: That would make sense. Or really bad wind. Many of the other sound of speed vids seem more real. Maybe those shoots were easier to get good audio. I know they use very high end microphones. This one just seems different. But what do I know.
When I see the pros riding stuff I might ride (though the only time I’d leave the track is either to crash or cos I’m so knackered I have to stop) it really shows how good they are. Nice touch leaving the mid air endo in.

Great edit! Some sweet lines.
Best bike park edit I’ve seen in ages.
