Yoann Barelli has announced on social media that he will no longer be riding Commencal bikes.
After announcing his move away from racing and the launch of his new coaching and guiding business, 'Into the Gnar Experience,' earlier this year Yoann Barelli has now revealed that he will no longer be riding for Commencal as a sponsor going forward.
 | Big thank you to the whole Commencal Bikes team in Andorra. In addition of making rad bikes you guys are rad people.
4 years have passed and seeing the progress we have made was an amazing experience on its own and I’m pumped to have been part of it.
It’s been a hell of a ride, and I’ll always be a big fan of the brand and the People within it. Thank You Max Commencal, Yannick Commencal, Nico M and Nicolas Brizin, Arthur, Pierrick, Jb Liautard, Léon Perrin, Yvaral Villier and Elodie, Boris, Jordan, Tiziano, The Cécile Ravanel, my Buddy Kevin Miquel…. Everyone.
Saying goodbye brings so many rad memories and feelings, tough moments, lots of laughter haha. It’s all part of the journey, but it’s always hard to leave.
I wish you all the success, all the victories and all the champagne showers (Max likes those haha)! Shred on team, I’m pumped— Yoann Barelli - Instagram |

Yoann stepped away from racing this year, so the change makes sense. Commencal signed him on to race, and would likely prefer to sign another enduro racer. And someone like Yoann is probably worth a lot more to a different company (I think he joins pinkbike as a collaborator/content creator. His personality/content creation would do way more for this website than it would for any single bike brand.)
So yeah, it would be nice to see him on a Forbidden!
Ideally PB would be doing "The Privateers" as a series with Yoann doing some EWS and other races on the Grim Donut v2 - while Cathro has another crack at the DH WC.
It would break the internet.
I imagine we'll see soon enough what his future holds, but if I were a manager at pinkbike, I'd be throwing money at the guy. Pinkbike hasn't had a proven ex-racer to do tough reviews since Paul Aston left. Levy and Kazimer are fast, but I still see people question how hard do they really ride in the comments. No one doubts how hard Yoann rides. And Yoann is funny, has a good understanding and can articulate what's going on with a bike (no reading reviews from Loris Vergier where he just writes down noises that the suspension was making, although I would still read it...), has excellent video presence, and already lives in the right part of the world to easily collaborate on videos with Levy, Sarah, and Jason. All they need to do is make him Levy's boss and he'd fit right in on the podcast. His type of personality is what drives viewership. And pinkbike isn't trying to sell bikes, it's trying to sell ad space, and it does that with more viewers.
And if I were Yoann, even if the money isn't as good as you'd get from a frame sponsor, working for pinkbike could be the start of a more stable career that could last for a long time and let you remain healthy and gainfully employed while you watch your daughter grow up. Win, win, win, win, win for everyone. I'm not sure how that would work with his coaching program that he's doing, but I see fewer conflicts of interest there.
riders racing World Cups. He’s got the skills and a genuine charismatic personality you can’t duplicate. Kinda like Wyn Masters.
IIRC, just after picking up a Giant sponsorship, he rolled out a couple of "how-to" edits that crack me up me every time I watch them (and kinda make me cringe as well, but it's part of the charm).

Plus it stays online and gets watched a ton over a few years
I am pretty sure all my riding buddies did the same. No one is going crazy because one Pro said this and that.
But we look overall what bikes are in the EWS. If they can handle that they will last us for a while.
Fans' dreams of a baguette themed team have been crushed and Pinkbike staff are bracing for an avalanche of salt in the comments.
Hier soir, ta mère a dit Oui! Oui Oui!
It's Yoann, he'll be alright ^-^
I imagine wherever Yoann ends up will pay a bunch to get him on their program and that it will be money well spent.
Although it’s odd times, when every manufacturer is going to sell every bike they can build, with no discounts.
Chromag (for his hardtail needs - maybe a special "Chro-nut" model just for him)
Kona
Knolly
or maybe even as local as WR1 and their new carbon bike!??!?
Commencal Marketing: watches Grim Donut video
...
"Barelli, you're fired"
It's because of you that I looked at getting my commencal meta AM in the first place.
All the best for wherever you end up!
Probably the latter.
Guess he "likes to go fast"
Trolls are getting lazier and lazier these days
After asking again today he replied to me and provided the receipts. So my comment is FALSE! Please downvote into oblivion. If anyone from PB sees this maybe you could delete it? I made a mistake in posting this and it's not fair to Yoann if this false accusation stays online.
