Registration is now open for this year’s “Trailblazer Series” brought to you by Goodlife Fitness. With $2800 in cash prizing, the revival of the “Vedder Mountain Classic” and “Sumas Smack Down”, as well as a BC Enduro Series stop, things are shaping up to be a pretty unreal set of events come this Spring. The races will follow a “TeXC” format. What’s “TeXC” you ask? It’s sort of a hybrid between the two disciplines, it gives an opportunity for XC riders to compete in the same race with Enduro riders. You can choose to race the full course, or ride the full course and race the timed descents. Don’t miss out, register today!!

We also have a NOBL wheels prize set up for grabs. Register for the full race series and have a chance to a set of carbon rims from NOBL wheels.

The Vedder trail crews have been out almost every weekend working to build and prep the best course possible. From beautiful flowing climbs, to steep, technical, loam covered descents, to fast old favorites this course has you covered. The “TeXC” format will feature roughly a 30 km course with over 1600+ meters of climbing, and within this course there will be 2 timed descents. There are podiums for the fastest overall course completion, as well as the fastest person down the mountain. In addition we are offering a “King of the Mountain” and “Queen of the Mountain” prize of $50 cash for the first guy and gal to the top, but you will have to grab your cash and hold onto it while you continue crushing the rest of the Vedder Classic course.

We are also offering a "Short Course" which will be around 12-15 km of single track awesomeness, and one timed decent. This will be for guy or gal that is looking to get into the race scene without the full commitment.

We will be selling entries that will get you a burger and a beer, we will have more details as things develop. BC Enduro Series

The BC Enduro Series makes its way into the Valley the Next day, there will be some completely blind stages, and even more surprises for riders come race day.

With 3 big stages (maybe more), with the final stage taking the fastest racers about 12-15 minutes to complete (20+ minutes for us mortals), this definitely going to be one heck of race. Riders will be paying for all that fun with about 1900 m of climbing.

This one will fill up fast so get over there and secure your spot!

Racers will also be treated to some awesome eats courtesy of the “Suburban Spoon” and bevies courtesy of “Old Yale Brewing”.

Race Day
With 30 km (give or take) of premium single track trail, this race is certainly one to add to your race calendar this year. The race will follow a “TeXC” format, where riders will be challenged by demanding technical trails, big climbs, steeps, and long descents.

The race will feature an overall full course timed podium, plus several timed descents within the race. Combined, these timed descents will form a separate podium. Racers will have a chance to battle it out for positions on two podiums, for a crack at the prize money.

For King and Queen of the mountain all spectators should be invited/encouraged to put in $5/10 so that the first male and female riders get a surprise prize at the top and won't know the amount until they're done. Could be a great tradition to start. I'd chuck a few bucks towards that for sure.

Sucks big time that all the BC enduro series races are on the same weekend. I would have liked to have done both series but 2 races on weekends 3 weeks in a row isnt gonna happen. Bad planning imo.

You could always go for the full meal deal | TeXC on the 14th for a warm-up, BC Enduro on The 15th for the secret stages. I'll even shout you a beer for your efforts, your legs will need it!

It is a shame our Kamloops Race is on the same day as the Sumas Smackdown, but if that's the only conflict with the FVMBA I think we did pretty good. We're working together for a full weekend of awesomeness on the 14th-15th of May, it's going to be one to remember. This weekend, you can actually have your loam and eat it too!

No worries. I choose to race the enduro series, Not the Trail blazer series. I no doubt could do them all but dont feel like I could give a honest 110% 2 days in a row 3 weekends in a row. Working mans life.

We have been working closely with the BCES on this. We also tried to plan it around the Nimby, Salty Dog, and Test of Metal Series. If you look at the race calendars for both XC and Enduro events in BC, the Island and the States you will see that there are lots of races out there to plan around. We do our best to avoid conflicts, but we can't win em all. Either way you are going to have a lot of fun at whatever event you choose to race. Now get out there and train!!!

jumping to the enduro series as well this year

There is a ton of races which is awesome for all of us. Just greedy and want to do them all. I preferred the trail blazer series in its early years when it was much earlier in the season.
  • + 2
I prefer a enduro format , did 1 techxc last season and I am not suited for it nor is my bike , going to travel and enjoy the new terrain , riding most of it blind other than some stuff on Vedder , Fromme i have not been n since the late 90,s .

That's the beauty of TeXC, it's both an Enduro and XC race in one. You can just cruise, stop at the top and race the downs, or you can try to crush the entire race. The podium prizing is equal for overall time and timed descents. There is also short course options if the big loop option is pushing it.

 looks pretty sick

I should put down the beer and pick up the dumbbells
  • + 5
I'm pretty sure bigger beer glasses is a solid compromise.
  • + 1
Lunch and an ice cold barley beverage from Old Yale is part of your race package. It will be waiting at the bottom for you Smile
  • + 1
I'll probably do both the XC's. I won't be able to take a week off work to learn the Enduro lines.
  • + 1
Any idea when the course maps will be released?
  • + 1
Hopefully soon. Our crews are working on ~5 of new lines for the race, but we want to keep people off until it is fully finished. There are pre-rides happening on the 2 Saturday's before the race. It's going to be a big ride, lots of new surprises and additions come race day!
  • + 1
 ~5 km of new trail**
  • + 1
for the Enduro or the TeXC?
  • + 1
I'm speaking specifically about the TeXC, it's a 2-way climbing/down trail. However this is also going to be a few diversions, new features, re-routes and rumours of something fresh for the Enduro as well.

Love the photos James. Top notch work.
