*UPDATE* The wheel is off a 2014 spearfish... http://salsacycles.com/bikes/archive/2014_spearfish_2 (I emailed salsa directly and got the info and can pass along the guys email address if you are interested) Per what's on the site for that bike... 'designed for all-day xc riding or racing. aimed at efficient power transfer and rear suspension performance. improved race agility, while remaining stable and balanced. the bike to ride for ultra-endurance riding and racing on singletrack' Based on that, it would make sense to me that the wheel would be a well built and pretty quick running wheel. ************** Up for sale is a brand new 2014 rear wheel slated for a salsa 29'er that has never had a tire mounted or cassette attached. (I was told it was for a Salsa Horsethief, but looking at those built kits it looks they were using SRAM hubs with the Rapid hoops for those, so not sure which bike the hub was originally slated for!?) 142x12 spacing - Formula 2 by Salsa Hub (color Orange) - Stan's ZTR Rapid 29er Hoop - regular 6 bolt brake rotor sizing - Has the Stan's rim tape already installed I bought this thinking I could find a conversion to just trade out the 142 end caps and run it on my 135x10 bike.. Turns out I couldn't find the end caps and/or axle conversion needed and tired of the search very quickly, so have gone a different route. Prefer Paypal and you're on the hook for shipping, but that shouldn't be too bad. Thanks for taking a look! Clint

Up for sale or trade is a very nice hand built single speed wheelset! The details... Rear: 135x10 spacing/axle, Mango Color Chris King Single Speed Specific Hub - White Halo Freedom Disk Hoop 32h - Chris King Fun Bolts Included Front: 100x15 TA spacing/axle, Mango Color Chris King Hub - White Halo Freedom Disk Hoop (the 9mm QR axle is also available) The story: This wheelset spent the first couple years of its life with only a handful of rides a year on a bike set-up single speed (seemed like a good idea, but NW riding and SS didn't suite me so much), the next 2 years with only 3 rides total (sad, I know) still set-up on a s single speed bike and then the last 2 years with a bit more use (still moderate I'd say) set-up with a custom milled XT cassette (specific for CK SS hubs... see note below) that allowed for 6 of the 9 gears to remain - you can see it in some of the pics - this set-up has worked flawlessly and allowed a few more gears on a wider (stiffer) SS hub! BUT, now it's time to let my beloved Chris King SS specific hubs go to someone that can appreciate the speed and beauty of these bad boys... AND, for me to get squared away with a geared specific set-up in my life! The tires on the wheels are included in the sale (I just don't want to mess with cleaning the tubeless goop, so I figure easier to just sell all together); these are set-up tubeless with Orange Seal goop (if you haven't tried this stuff, a person might give it a go... WAY better than Stan's!)... Front: Schwalbe Nobby Nic 2.25 that was new just last summer... in great shape w/ little wear Rear: Bontrager XDX 2.1 that was off a build years ago... this doesn't have much use, but is an older tire (works great for a fast rear tire) Please Note - these are used wheels and as with anything previously loved, they do have some signs of use. There are a couple of scratches on the hoops which I tried to include in the pics and the tires are used... other than that though, they look great, spin freely, the spokes were just tightened up, so the whole set-up is ready to ride as-is! As it stands, the custom cassette shown in the pics is attached to the rear wheel... this is NOT included in the sale! If you want to discuss having the cassette along with the XT 9sp derailleur and XT 9sp shifter, we can chat, but that will be an extra cost to the price listed above. The cassette was ordered from Walt Works and is a professionally milled down XT 9sp Cassette in order to run 6 gears on a CK single speed hub... although I don't think he is doing them anymore, his website: www.waltworks.com. If you want one of the best single speed set-ups out there and orange is your color, these wheels are for you! PayPal preferred and you are responsible for shipping costs, so that will be extra. If you have a comparably spec'd geared specific wheelset available that you aren't using that will work QR rear and 15mm front, then let's talk trade! (No stock wheels... CK's, I9's, White's, etc.) Thanks for taking a look! :) Clint PS - Because it probably warrants saying... just the hubs would cost between $600 and $700 new (depending on whatever sale a person found) and that doesn't include hoops, spokes, nipples and the hand build - retail runs around $1,200 bucks (I've seen them in the $900/$1,000 range lately though). Again, thanks for taking a look!
