There's an end to every beginning. After months of work and hundreds of computer crashes. I'm done. Freeride Freedom 3 is over. It's really been a journey. I've never worked so much on a single video in my entire life.
I owe quite a bit to one of my friends for insisting that I make the final one. Otherwise I wasn't really going to make anything. I went out and bought myself a real tripod and learned the basics of the DSLR. Weird how not too long ago I didn't even know what an "ISO" was.
I started up my little project for the last time. I sifted through my old FR files to seek some inspiration. Oddly enough, there was none. I realized how awful my old movies were. I finally got it into my head that I wanted to remake Freeride Freedom as I had previously envisioned. Sure, the final product isn't perfect but what you're seeing is pretty close to what I wanted.
I made myself a new logo for DH industries and set out to start filming my friends.
We traveled all over BC; from Prince George to Burnslake, Vernon/Okanagan and back home again. It was tons of fun, I've never had so much riding in one season before. This whole summer experience made up for the crappy one we had before.
We went from Summer to fall fast, everything was getting much colder. At this point I rushed everything. You tend to forget how fast summer comes and goes in the North. I filmed my second last segment, and I probably got some of the best colours of the season on camera.
Finally, after going back and forth, I finished the last segment. Not even a day before the snow started to fall. Of course, everything worked out in the end. I got my last hurrah of the season and it ended it off quite nicely.
I couldn't be more happy. Everything had come full circle. Just as planned.
Thanks to everyone who made this last Freeride Freedom with me. I wanted this movie to be the real Freeride Freedom. The movie that I wanted to portray in the original F.R.1......in 2008
Time flies, and I've progressed so much since then.
I wanted it to go out with a bang. You guys sure as hell made it possible.
Cheers, this is the beginning of something great.
