Video Highlights: Royal Fest 2018

Nico Vink has revived one of his first big jump lines at Royal Hills. This time he has not only built an amazing mountain bike line, he has also sculpted a completely separate and equally amazing moto course.

With the top of the MTB line having multiple choices, the boys could start together and have fun on the over under lines in the forest and then line up for the big hits at the bottom. The shark fin was the most daunting and after claiming two frames and one air shock it got the nickname, "Jaws".

Some huge hits went down on the bottom jumps, two standouts were a flip no hander from Conor Macfarlane and a front flip from Loco Adolf Silva!

The moto course was insane, a completely unique style with lots of hips and 2 shark fins, more like a BMX trails style course. With 11 big hits in the line, most were overshadowed by the huge shark fin and step up. You could see that was what was on the riders minds too, because that was the first thing they wanted to get out of the way. Once they were comfortable the whips and turndowns came out, Adolf sent a perfect double grab on the uphill jumps and Gilles Dejong was the only one to do the full line. So amazing to see it all come together.

Another incredible Fest per usual. But the real treat here is that this is the best highlight video we've ever had! Thanks so much!

Damon Iwanaga has to be one of my favorite freeriders to watch. goes huge, has wicked style, and is one of the nicest guys you'll meet

Did no one make it through the whole line? Just saw the one clip of Vink clearing the last shark fin, but nothing on the last set.

I don't think it worked out. Vink was saying he was hoping someone could at least do the shark fin so it was questionable already. That is absolutely insane.

Along with the amazing jumps there is some stunning photography there. Love the sunset pictures especially 3&24 (they are not numbered I’m just counting). Wondering if there is some floodlighting there or are they using really high power off camera flash?

 Thanks man!
I just used normal strobes for the sunset stuff.

On jumps this big, they only work when it's pretty dark, so only got them out for the last few runs each evening.

I think this video broke my brain. Did anyone else start hearing moto sounds on the takeoffs even when they were riding mountain bikes?

I see so many guys wearing MTB helmets when they jump on the Moto's, are they pretty much the same? The only thing I can think of is that most MTB full faces aren't DOT approved, but do you need that if you aren't on the streets? Hopefully I don't sound stupid, I just don't want to buy a Moto helmet if I can just use my current Mtb full face.

Buy a fullon mx helmet and use it for dh (some wc rider do it) no problem about that, the opposite is a no no
