After a season full of rain cancellations and reschedules, the National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA) NorCal League returned to Six Sigma Ranch for one final battle. Six Sigma, a familiar course for many, was reworked for Champs now going clockwise with a different start and finish than the previous races.

Six Sigma Weather

Course & Conditions:
The weather threatened the 5-mile race and threw the trail builders for a loop, leaving them to make last-minute changes to the course. They built two rock bridges over what had been a creek that riders were to ride through.

Six Sigman Champs

Racing:
A challenging course resulted in a number of crashes. With significantly more racers than usual in the same start gate, it’s a given there will be more harder race.

With more than fifty teams battling it out everyone had a great race. Calling out Tam High, Berkley and Redwood for bringing it home in the top three.

Didn't even include anything about the prom?

Haha I totally forgot about the prom. I’m thinking of doing an article like this for every race next year. I’ll sneak it in somewhere.

Probably riding and training in the same area of the birthplace for the sport we all love!

-ish. Six Sigma Ranch is in Lake County (~1.5 hours north of Marin). It's a great spot tho! Really fun XC trail there, and the folks who own the ranch are very friendly. They have vineyards on the property, and their wines sre pretty solid too

Love that these kids are choosing cycling over ball-based sports.

It's a victory when kids are engaged in any outdoor activity versus sitting at home gaming or doom scrolling.
