We've all been there: It's the rock roll you've done a thousand times before, that one off-camber root section, or maybe it's your first time hitting a brand new drop - you crash. Accidentally crashes are part of our sports. EVOC certainly don’t want you to provoke crashes for this competition but they would like to keep you safe on your next adventure by dishing out prizing for the best fail of each month. Here are our picks for September.

Wonder if the carbon frame would have the same effect. Momentum is a wonderful thing.
  • 26 0
@Steezwhip: The footage was a little grainy.

 that logged quite rotten.
  • 26 0
landed on his back. His lumber must hurt...
  • 37 1
Probably soiled his shorts barking up the wrong tree there. I'm trying to think of more tree puns but I'm gonna go out on a limb and admit I'm stumped.
  • 26 1
@eham: Falling on pine is the worst, needles to say. Hope he's oaka.
  • 14 0
the root of the problem was that he had too much air
  • 13 0
Looks like he took the wrong root, he must have been releafed he was ok.
  • 2 5
@eham: I thought so too, but he didn't. The one tree he hit snapped at handlebar level and then the upper part fell on him.
  • 3 6
Probably took a sap after that blowdown
  • 6 2
I can't beleaf what I just saw. That was barking mad. wood have felled worse than pines and needles!
  • 11 0

@truenorthsimon: Son of a beech, I bet if it were yew out there, a poplar video would be the clearcut goal too.
  • 3 0
So don't go cutting down people's hard work like that.
  • 1 0
No question, #2. The shot looking back with the tree on top of him, and his bike, seals it.
  • 2 0
 @mrgonzo: Why don't you just leave(s)?
  • 5 0
Looks like the tree was all bark and no bite.
  • 5 0
I feel sorry for that poor sap.
  • 2 1
I hope he cedar doctor to check nothing was brOAK
  • 4 0
Next time he should knot hit the tree
  • 103 2
These look like some of the highest quality fails we've seen in a while.
  • 3 1
They were all pretty fantastic. I can't pick a favorite.
  • 1 0
You mean, "these look like some of the highest quality fall riding we've seen in a while"
  • 87 2
#8 gets my vote. Crashing, breaking stuff, piling people up. Nice.
  • 12 1
My only issue is that the only fail in that video is the frame snapping, everyone involved got away ridiculously clean.
  • 8 0
the dramatic holywood roll by the one dude was the clicher
  • 5 0
 @Pedro404: Not frame but fork.
  • 2 0
Awesome!, even the cameraman does a nice job recording all the show
  • 7 0
As soon as I saw it was from Poland I knew it would be good
  • 62 0
This has got to be some record, none of the fails are filmed vertically! Best month yet!
  • 4 0
I wish I could upvote you twice.
  • 49 0
This is probably the best batch of fails yet, but #8 has to win. I mean, you have a failed back flip, a broken bike, a train of riders crashing into one another, and the last guy with the perfect dismount.
  • 7 0
 Love dat Krakow Train Wreck
  • 1 0
congrats to the man with the red bike breaking the momentum while in air, nice job.
  • 1 0
Him and the guy that dramatically rolls out of the way like a grenade was just tossed onto the pile.
  • 25 0
So much going on in #8. Hats off to the last rider in the train for the perfect ejection and landing on his feet!
  • 2 0
 Superhero landing dude

 Knolly > Tree
  • 3 2
I hear the new Knolltree is sick!
  • 10 1
Knolly Mountain Bikes: Better built quality then a tree!
The marketing team will be ecstatic
  • 7 0
Its nice to see the way people help out a hurt rider in #7, and #2 is a savage. But for some reason I feel that #8 takes the cake
  • 6 0
#5 is hectic, falling from that distance and whiplash when you come down. You know that one hurt.
  • 2 0
As if the pain his arm/shoulder from checking that tree isn't enough...ouch.
  • 3 0
to give #4 credit, the staircase that is the entry into horsetheif is gnarly. it's, dare i say, worse than that video made it look. i walked it both times i rode there, the risk vs. reward ratio just wasn't there for me.

GREAT trail system though.
  • 2 0
Furthermore, he almost made it. He ate it on essentially the very last maneuver before you are in the clear...and he cleared what I think is the more difficult move. 80% of that section is just a mater of getting your weight back and letting the bike roll (and especially not grabbing a handfull of front brake). However starting with the 2 steps above where he falls you have to put your tire in exactly the right spot, commit to the line and keep the bike under control so you don't roll out of line for the final move (where he ate it). Cheers to him for giving it a go. It took me 3 wrecks very similar to his before I cleaned it.

 Epic! October Fail-of-the-Month material!
  • 1 0
DUDE ! That front axle is made out of paper haha
  • 4 0
Trees get the upvote... but #8 is all about everything, must have watched about a dozen times already........
  • 5 1
#2 for scariest and #8 for funniest. good stuff mates
  • 3 2
For #1, what's the point in having the camera towards the riders's face if the goggles prevent us from seeing that guys's facial expression at the very moment he realizes he's gonna go down and there's no escaping it ?
  • 37 2
 * girls. But thanks for sayin I ride / take a fall like a dude
  • 10 2
 @jayjayjee:
Hahahaaa. You got me!
Nice dive regardless. No sexism in OTB.

@jayjayjee: You are def the fastest girl at Summit. Keep getting shreddy!
  • 5 0
 #2 and #8 WIN
  • 4 0
For me it's a coin toss between #2 and #8.
  • 1 0
How do you get into fail of the month. Do they just select from uploaded videos here on pb or do you specifically apply to it? I'm pretty bad at mountainbiking but decent at failing.
  • 1 0
"Got a submission? Inbox EVOC." Just saw it right after ...
  • 3 0
#2 One more killer argument to buy a Knolly and that near-perfect telemark landing in #8 just epic Smile
  • 3 0
#1 looked like a hard slam but I'd have to vote for #2 for making the trail just a little bit wider.
  • 4 0
#2.. Would have made that on a stumpjumper......ill get my coat.

Massage to the guy from video nr 5 You will never win with tree - sorry. No 6 make my day :-) but my winner is #8 Fair play, they didn't make a sandwich...
  • 3 0
I was expecting a fight in #3 after they got up.
  • 3 0
Trees... claiming mountain bikers since the dawn of time
  • 1 0
#7 - I just love how it shows the support random riders give each other on the trail. This is the reason I love riding bikes!!
  • 2 0
LOL, Glad I can say I walked away unharmed so everyone can enjoy replaying that video as much as I do.
  • 1 0
Great to hear that! I like watching crashes but without injuries. Yours was a really great one! Smile
  • 2 0
The biggest fail that I saw was the paved BMX track. What happened to dirt?
  • 3 0
Definitely #2 - Flagstaff, USA for his makeshift tree felling skills
  • 1 0
#2 He is so so so luckly that was a dead tree. It would not have been pretty if instead of breaking it just stopped him in his tracks.
  • 1 0
Yeah, I have been stopped quickly by two living trees like this guy and lowered my head/helmet an instant before impact. Had to buy a new helmet after that one but at least I didn't have to buy a new face.
  • 2 0
Love the drone shot of #7!
  • 3 1
"That's one way to end it" - gold!
