Madeira - 'The Island of flowers' was never on my radar until my girlfriend convinced me to celebrate both our birthdays there together. I was expecting some cozy days off in a great environment, but this Island has so much more to offer then I had expected. Immediately I was blown away by the views and the diversity of the vegetation. I knew I had to come back to capture this beauty and the contrasts of this place. So once I got home I immediately put together a rough plan. Shortly thereafter I got my buddies from Motion Media on board, boxed the trail bike and returned to the island in time for September. However, a few weeks before we got there giant fires hit the Island. This made us worry about how it might impact on our plans. In the end I think it just helped underline how intense this place is.
The week we spent there was definitely one of those trips you won't forget in a hurry. Climbing back up the hill for another run wasn't a problem at all as we simply couldn't get enough of this Island.
To publish the video without music wasn't quite the plan. But once we saw the video come together we knew it would better convey how it was from our perspective.
If watching the video made you want go to Madeira feel free to contact Jérémy Frotey from Bikulture. He's the no. 1 contact person for any kind of requests on this Island.
If Amway are paying for films like that, bring it, they obviously have the budget fair play !
If Amway want to make an energy drink film here in the UK, i'll take the call.
The edit was rad and if energy was the message, then they hit the nail on the head. Really great film making and riding
This place has been on my next-place-to-go travel destination for a while and this made it definite! Then if he could show me how to get to the next level of "in a video game" riding I'd be set. This guy is rad! And I love how he shows the capability of a trail bike...good endorsement for GT bike quality
Was I the only one waiting for a narrating voice like on the discovery channel with those sound effects and slow mo close ups? Haha... quality production!
is this the only asian mountain bike rider, no im not racist just intrigued? the only coloured guy i seen shred is nick pescetto. What a guy amir is, that superman was super smooth the man can shred thats for sure. will keep eyes out for him in future vids he has loads of potential, dare i say rampage ready? wildcard entry for next year if he carries on riding like that all we need to see no is a few no handed backflips and hes ready.
@Grmasterd: not used to it in UK you see so it came as a shock. Just shows the love of shredding bikes fast downhill and building jumps breaks all culture barriers. We are one worldwide community.
You've clearly not seen the rest of his vids, haha. Amir is one of the most underrated and best all around riders for the last few years, easily rampage capable. Check out his previous videos, such as In The Woods. He has a bit more than flip no-handers...
@sellcrackcocainetofundhobby: no worries - just teasing - As an Asian rider and as a minority where I live you get use to being the only 'Asian' during a group ride. That being said I can't ever remember a negative bike related experience because of that and I image like most MTB'ers regardless of race or sex, I identify myself first as a rider before my nationality or sex
@mountainyj: just seen this www.youtube.com/watch?v=NGV8i-fp8MI oh my god he can do no handed flips and the bloody rest!!! agree hes totally under rated. his arsenal of tricks is huge backflip can cans, 720's backflip barspins the list goes on!! sick rider
@sellcrackcocainetofundhobby: always has killer edits. All 3 In The Woods were some of the highest quality edits to come out at the time. Still so good to watch again
2. I wasted my life - don't be like me.
3. It's Beer:30
And I love how he shows the capability of a trail bike...good endorsement for GT bike quality
Be interesting to know best time of year to ride there?
Also, what a d-bag stealing some stranger’s drink!
Great edit otherwise.
Bloody brilliant.
