The west coast of British Columbia has put the hurt on mountain biking this winter with record snowfalls and unridable trails. Finally, spring has hit Squamish and the trails have been given a facelift by the local trail builders. Watch as Dexter Robson throws down a top time on one of the classic trails, "Credit Line".
Great Video! Credit Line is a Jim Harvey classic, such a great line. Jim built so many great trails in town. The trail crew gave it a top to bottom refresh this spring. Don't forget to pick up your yearly memberships to support the trails!
I remember walking this with Jim before he built it (12 years ago). At some point just after that his wife bought him a Nomad. About the most bling bike around at that point. He claimed she bought it on credit. Credit Line.
Damn that was a great edit! Great soundtrack. Ripping riding, excellent mix of mechanical bike music with the music track. Just a symphony of visual and auditory stimulus! Great morning coffee viewing. You guys in Canada really have got it all. You folks in BC need a world class luthier, vintage guitar restoration specialist? Probably not.
@HpSauce: haha didn't think so. I've ridden credit many times and I was having trouble thinking of where there's enough room for those big jumps and long landing.
@CrazyHorse4: yeah really. The hardest part of credit line are those tough punchy climbs. If you can clean those, that's more impressive than shredding the downhill part.
@gbeaks33: and @CrazyHorse4 - totally agreed. That was Jim's vision; to make this an "all-mountain" trail. Of course he routed this before that phrase existed
@faultlinetv: was just re-reading my comment and hope it wasn't misconstrued as criticism. Was just thinking through the times I've beaten my head against the Credit Line climbs. Definitely appreciated the video and the intent to show the fast sections of the trail - which was accomplished very well.
wow, so much love for credit line. glad to hear it got some TLC this spring but CL has to be one of my least favourite trails in squamish. there's so many great trails in the valley, and that area - every time i get suckered into riding CL i get doubly depressed, because i've had to ride a bombed out piece of $hit with no flow and missed riding something, anything better
@boomforeal: I would argue that this trail requires a lot of time and energy in picking lines to "find the flow". But once you've got it, it's one of the best trails in Squamish.
@faultlinetv: i would disagree. as your article notes, credit line is one of squamish's classic trails. as with many of its ilk, once upon a time it made sense to ride, and might even have been worth the considerable time and energy needed to pick a line and find a flow. however, in the last few years, squamish has experienced an explosion of amazing singletrack, and there are so many great trails in the valley broadly and the alice lake/highlands area in particular that imo riding credit line is a total waste of one's time and energy
@boomforeal: Its fun riding all kinds of trails, Credit Line is great to ride every now and then, and it's also fun trying to make the big punch climb part way through the trail. Then the descent after that is a great ride.
@boomforeal: Leave it to the rest of us then! It's certainly one of the best and most flowy trails in Squamish, super rewarding and not paved like many of the other options!
@cornichons: I like riding Whistler, but have to respectfully disagree. Squamish has one of the finest trail networks on the face of the earth, rivaling places like the Kootenays and Utah.
Jim Harvey... what a guy!
Confused Canadian
Trail does look amazing though- exactly my type of thing
