Always warming to see another brother shredding. More inclusion of POC and women only makes the sport better..... This has happened in plenty of other sports. Hopefully, cycling and more action sports will catch on
Cool to see him shredding. But until the underlaying societal and socio-economic issues within American culture are addressed token ‘POC’ will sadly continue. The marketing forces driving this industry will chase the money. Support increase social care and wage equality (or others to bring American out of 1800’s). A few more black dudes in some biking vids isn’t going to help.
You have high number of poc in the nfl...doesn’t seem to make police shootings decrease? Not trying to be a dick, but its just weird watching a society implode on itself and its own people not see the issues. I guess lots do...i’ll shut up now
How does inclusion of POC make the sport better? What other sports were improved by changing their racial makeup and what metrics are you using to measure?
@mtbynot, I'm usually careful what I say about race & inclusive but myself being half African American, its always nice to see a bother or sister just doing what they love to do. Just them doing it gives us hope & inspires us to do the same. There are a lot of people who do not understand or can't relate to the way we feel. I don't have any expectations from the industry & I don't feel like they owe me anything. But to those who take the time to want to stop, listen & learn, seeing Eliot Jackson doing his thing means a lot to me.
@JohanG: no one is saying the sport is getting better by a more inclusive demographic. Its just that the sport doesn’t currently represent a global society with respect to race/ski colour. But then again, its origins were in white middle income cycling communities. Also, you don’t see many white folks playing kabaddi? How race representative should a sport be? Either way, cool to see other folks than skinny straight white boys on bikes xx
@JohanG: basketball, football, baseball, golf, F1, NASCAR, tennis, all Olympic categories, chess. If you don't feel the need to include others and don't see how including others improves the sport for everyone, you should take up BINGO
@JohanG: the Williams sisters have inspired more POC and women to pay tennis that I know personally. The sisters have also raise the level of woman tennis in general. James Stewart has been influential to POC in general in action sports ( I can tell you this first hand as a black man ). He also has changed the way dynamically riders are riding and even down to the apparel with fitting kits. He evolved the sport in many ways. Plenty more examples
We are slightly different like any other breeds that exist in animals and it's a beautiful thing. To not see why it is for the overall good to show more POC and women is naive thinking. Just as your fav rider inspires you to go shred in a video it does the same to see another POC or ladies to others.
@mtbynot: It will be interesting to see what comes of the Hamilton Commission (on the other side of the Atlantic) with regard to motorsports participation, even starting with STEM education activities. Lewis is on a level with Stewart, the Williams sisters, heck Tiger too. All up against some considerable odds for participation and many of them not subtle.
What I want to know is, if the 34 can handle everything, then what is the 36 for, what is the 38 for, and what is the 40 for? Why not have one fork that can do everything from 100mm to 200mm. Say one fork, the Fox 38, with 100mm travel all the way to 200mm in increments of 20mm. Does the weight saving make a significant performance difference?
I think that was RS strategy for years. Boxer, Lyrik/Yari, Pike/revolution all 35mm. Than Zeb came along 38mm. 35mm might be all you need depending on the design.
@abzillah: @abzillah: I think weight and riding style need to be considered equally, instead of just saying that bigger stanchions fit longer travel forks and vice versa.
As a point of comparison, I always think it's weird how bigger brakes/stiffer forks are being developed for ebikes, which weight ~20 lbs more than regular bikes, while rider weights have a range of over 100 lbs (say from 120 lbs to 250 lbs or more).
I'm around 220 lbs, and swapped a 160mm Lyrik for a 38 with the same travel. Unbelievable difference in comfort and confidence, and I don't even ride that hard. If I was a more skilled/precise and/or lighter rider, I'm sure I could appreciate the weight and cost savings that come with smaller stanchions.
If your hands don't hurt at the bottom of a short blue/green descent, you can probably ignore press releases advertising stiffer forks. Different forks for different folks!
He spent the whole video trying to murder those poor trail tires.
Be curious to know which trail tires he was on though grip limits looked impressive in the moon dust
@enurjetik: looks a lot like Muc-Off sealant. The stuff is very sticky...almost the consistency of Elmers glue. It comes out of the bottle pink but when it’s exposed to open air for a bit it turns purple. Seems to coat the tire really well but cleaning it up is a nightmare.
"...proving that the new 34 can handle some pretty serious riding." Damn! Too bad I have the 2021 34. I could have shredded so much harder with the 2022.
Nobody has more fun than Eliot Jackson..hands down! So much style when he rides & such an infectious smile & laugh. One awesome down-to-earth dude, an inspiration to everybody to go out & do what they love to do!
Obviously CGI... everyone knows you can't ride hard on a fork with less than 35 mm diameter stanchion. If you do, the bike will disintegrate.
Also... looks like Eliot's new role is suiting him and his sponsors just fine.
All you kooks dissing the 34. If Elliot can shred on it you don't deserver more...just cuz you can pay for more doesn't me you can use it to its full potential Truth is you're not good enough for a more capable fork. All the marketing bs (and resulting over gunned riders) in MTB is getting tedious. Why does this only seem to be the case in the MTB sector of the bike market?
I was wondering which part of SoCal this place is. Thanks. I'd love to ride those trails. Certainly, nothing anywhere close to what EJ is doing, but rip it the best I can, while smiling all the way too
@twozerosix: that trail in the drone aerial is at risk of being lost. 2-others at that area recently fenced off and that one at the end could be next due to yet another housing development.
Dont get me wrong - its a nice edit, and Eliot is a sick rider, but... not sure i would call that "hitting serious stuff". Those trails are pretty buff, and he's such a smooth rider, i dont think its much of a challenge for the 34.
The bike was merciful for being used thoughtfully and thoroughly
;-)

Boxing, MMA, soccer, basketball, baseball, shall I keep going?
Does the weight saving make a significant performance difference?

I will tell you what, Sunshine...Next time I am back in SC, I will buy you a beer. perhaps you'll be an adult by then and it will be legal.
I’ve got one with the 130 fork and standard 120 rear travel and it also shreds on these same trails.
Even a 140mm trail fork should occasionally see rougher terrain (I'm thinking North shore Vancouver).
