The third happening of DownMall “devastation” is quickly approaching. It's become a tradition that this unconventional race move to a new mall each year.After the shopping centre Delta and Plaza in Liberec there is not just the change of shopping centre but the town too! DownMall 2011 is heading to Palác Flora in Prague this year!

Palác Flora offers again very attractive and challenging mall of 4 floors just perfect for the race. If you remember, the last race in Plaza shopping centre took the start at the local discotheque club. This year the start will be in the vestibule of the Palace cinema on the highest floor of the shopping centre. The race will then continue by the passage round the inside gallery on each floor of the shopping centre. The very popular escalators and the finish drop won’t be of course missing. For the audience there is prepared 5 cameras shooting the whole race that will be aired through LCD screens placed throughout the whole shopping centre.

Not very popular custom of this DownMall event is that the whole race is very limited with the number of participants so it is only for 40 invited riders. Thus we can again be looking forward to the top international and local DH and 4X riders.

This year DownMall is not intended for the DH and 4X riders only but there will be also introduced totally different MTB branch by our top dirt and slopestyle riders! The prize money in height of 30.000,- CZK will be surely the good motivation for all the participants so we can all be looking forward to the great show.

no chance the health and safety brigade would allow this in either the US or anywhere else like the UK either. I spent some time in CZ a while ago and they love this sort of stuff, its crazy and dangerous, which is why it gets done there as they aren't a nanny state like the rest of the world. All the better for it!

They actually did a race through the skyway of St. Paul, MN several years ago (I think they've done 2) and I've been hoping they would bring it back. I'd love to participate in something like this, and there is a lot of elevation change from one end of the skyway system to the other.

I love how theres guys in full dh gear, goggles (because theres soooooo much shrapnel and intense wind speed on their face inside a heated mall) and everything, on their 40 lbs dh bikes for pretty much an all out sprint. Why would you do that haha. I don't care if I get neg. props. The dudes on the hardtails know where its at.

Czech MTB scene isn't on the same level as the American, British or Australian. They get a frame or bike for reduced prize, full sponsoring is almost a myth even for the top riders, and riders must present the stuff they get. If you get sponsored by Banshee (meaning the Czech importer of it), you may get Legend, but you might not have the Rampant in addition, even if it's better for this occasion. And, of course, you won't ride you friend's SX trail, because you'd get dumped by the sponsor. Understand?

The Czech Rep. is a little country with a few riders and even less competitors.
