NEW Scott Genius 710 PLUS -37% why buy used?

DO NOT email with low ball offers - Call our store - NO trades - we can ship anywhere in North America for a very reasonable expense. We are also celebrating our Big 7 year Anniversary and have amazing in-store deals 27-77% off storewide - some bike related deals are posted here but way more in-store, come check us out in Fernie for all the best deals! We have one last 2016 Scott Genius 710 PLUS remaining - it is a large - it is 37% off for NEW - Why buy used? Reg $6199 now $3905+GST A choice of Genius. That’s how much Scott believes in their Genius 700 Plus platform. This is the HMF carbon-fiber version. It’s identical in design to the HMX carbon-fiber version, only with less-pricier, more durable, slightly heavier HMF carbon. It’s not the Genius, though it shares a basic identity and intentions as the Genius. The Plus is a big deal. The wheels will make you a better mountainbiker. Your confidence will increase thanks to the better grip on the trail, and your fatigue will decrease thanks to the greater comfort. Average riders might even go from good to very good, and very good riders will go to great. You can take the bike farther, for more fun, more speed, a better experience. To understand why, you need to understand the new Plus (+) standard. Wide rims and tires do lots of good for every rider. Even when you put a standard tire on a wide rim, the contact patch increases for better traction, the increased air volume minimizes pinch flats and increases comfort, and the changed relationship of the tire sidewall to the rim wall means that the tire is less likely to fold under hard cornering, making it easier to hold the line. All in all, a plus. The Plus standard here means 2.8” tires supported by rims with a 40mm interior width and 45mm exterior width. This is an increase in contact patch of 21% over a 2.35” tire on narrower rims. Think of it as combining the float and traction of a fatbike with the speed of an xc racer. Tests indicate that rolling resistance increases by about 1%, but when you consider the benefits, this cost looks to be overcome by the benefits the greater width brings. It also means an embrace of the Boost standard. This means a 110x15mm front hub and 148x12mm rear hub. Thru-axles both. The distance between flanges has been increased by 10mm in front and 6mm in back. This additional width means greater triangulation for spokes, making the wheels more laterally stiff and durable. It also means more widely-set fork legs and a wider rear triangle, both of which also help with torsional rigidity. The chainline also moves to the right by 3mm to keep alignment perfect. And the chainstays are lengthened by 12mm to account for the bigger tires. Scott also slightly reduced the head and seat angles to keep the bike feeling like a Scale with “normal” wheels. And if you want to change the riding experience up a bit, 29er wheels with 2.3” or narrower tires can also fit in the bike. This is all on top of the standard genius of Scott’s Genius. The geometry pairs an aggressive seat angle to short-ish chainstays and a slack head angle. It can be further tuned via the adjustable chip at the top of the suspension linkage. Raise or lower the bottom bracket by 7mm and move the head angle forward or back by .5 degrees. The wide BB92 bottom bracket allows for a massive carbon juncture, which contributes to lateral stiffness in two ways. First, the downtube can be super-wide, limiting flex there. Second, the chainstay pivot is also as wide as possible, limiting flex and wear there. Up front, the tapered 1 1/8” to 1 1/2” head tube provides lateral stiffness to limit the fork tracking itself. You’ll see that Scott has gone deep with Plus bikes in the Genius line. It’s for a good reason. Genius bikes already are designed for taking all your riding to extreme. There’s 140mm front and 130mm rear of travel, with the valving tuned specifically for Scott. The rear Fox Nude shock even has an EVOL sleeve for finer tuning of small bumps. In front you have a Fox 36 Float with FIT4 damper. The two suspension elements can be adjusted on the fly thanks to the TwinLoc lever on the bars. Same goes for the dropper post. The Plus is how you can go farther, harder, and with more fun. The Scott Genius 700 Plus HMF is more like an exponential benefit than addition.
