by Giant Bicycles

One, a former cross-country Olympian, the other, a World Cup downhiller. Adam Craig and Eliot Jackson both love trail riding but certainly have different styles on the bike. At the juncture of each's riding style, is the all-new Trance 29.

Totally what I was going to say.

the whip/scrub to mid-air pedal is insane

They must have used 26" to shoot the commercial, cause I've read somewhere that 29" are not playfull and no fun.

Warranty better be rock solid if theyre recommending riding park on 115mm trav.
  • 28 0
All Giant bikes come with a lifetime frame warranty. Does that help?
  • 9 4
@Janes28: doesnt mean they are going to honor it *cough* Kona *cough*

@Motoracer31: I worked at a giant dealer for over 10 years and can say they have a solid warranty department who approved way more than I would have expected... In a few cases they even warrantied 7-8 year old 26in bikes even though they didn't make 26 inch bikes anymore! Obviously they didn't have the replacements in stock either so they ended up giving those customers a hefty credit towards a new bike. Pretty solid IMO.

@ethanfiamingo: Do you know if that would apply to a 2005/2006 Reign frame too? If not, could they pay me to have it displayed in their museum? I haven't manage to break it yet, incidentally.
  • 2 0
@BenPea: If you're the original owner - yes. I know of people that have broken the 26 era bikes and been upgraded to the 2017 equivalent - full bike.
  • 14 0
The best warranties are the ones you never need.
  • 3 0
@ethanfiamingo: they also have really good "crash replacement" price if your damage isn't covered by warranty.
  • 8 0
@Motoracer31: they do honor it. all the dealer needs is a picture and they dispatch a new frame. I went through a couple one time and had a new one built up under a week both times. after dealing with Evil and other brands, I won't be switching to anything else anytime soon.
  • 1 4
I cracked the top tube on a 2011 carbon trance; had a new frame in less than a week. However, giants marketing / Adam Craig a few years back, promised us 27.5 was the only way to go. You probably shouldn’t buy their 29er.
  • 2 0
@BenPea: I cant speak for them directly, but I have seen them grant warranties on other bikes form that era.
  • 5 0
@utley06: Remember when people thought lead paint was a good idea? Turns out opinions change over the years - it's crazy.
  • 1 1
Weird, cos I believe the official warranty was 5 years. Cannondale was the one I thought was free and easy on the warranty replacements. Not sure I can produce an invoice tbh.
  • 1 0
@Clarkeh: no, it was because giant couldn’t make a 29er without long chainstays. Maestro design wouldn’t let them. So, they came up with a bunch of 27.5 was the perfect wheels size bullshit.

@Motoracer31: As a giant store employee, can confirm that Giant's warranty department is incredible. Customers always leave happy.
  • 3 0
@SeanBikes1029: that wasnt a dig on giant. I know they are good. it was a dig on kona. They suck
  • 16 0
Well they made that bike look pretty fun.

Eliot Jackson can ride a mother fucking bike. Wow.

Sick promo. Always wondered how Eliot may have panned out if he didn't have the asthma issues. So amazed how he's able to so comfortably keep the balance between control and chaos.
  • 3 0
He has the asthma under control now.
  • 11 0
So rad! Eliot's riding makes me want to buy one!

Trail Boss video and not feature Jeff Lenosky, marketing guy was sleeping on his job agian, good thing Eliot saved it. Will the warranty cover it if you crash or case a jump and brake the bike? Only reason i ride a banshee spitfire is that i know they can take a beating. If the review says this bike can survive a bruising, then i'm saving up for this one.

Any manufacturer will be happy to deny you in case there is amy impact related damage amywhere near the crack.
  • 1 0
@mollow: what does that mean? That if i crash or case a jump, warranty is void?
  • 1 0
@Zuman: if there is any trace of impact (paint chip, dent, scratch) it will be void.
  • 2 0
@mollow: @Zuman I work at a Giant store and we have covered many impact related claims in the past. Giant's warranty department is great.

this looks like Oregon but I don't recognize the spot... anyone know?
  • 2 0
Would like to know also - license plate on the truck is OR.
  • 3 0
@mattbrown9: place carson storch being working on towards coast. Check his insta gram
  • 1 0
Ha! You can tell by the savage clearcut.
  • 3 1
 looks like Thrillium in WA
  • 4 0
@bchristi: can confirm that it's not Thrillium, but it's what I thought at first too.
  • 5 0
It’s in Oregon but that’s all I’ll say. Well it’s actually a forbidden mythical ridding Mecca completely off the grid with lift service. Good luck finding it!
  • 1 0
@tdmsurfguy: I'll show you mine if you show me yours.
  • 1 0
For a little while there I thought it was in Rotorua NZ....but the forest was too large in the background.
  • 6 1
Looks good but no roots or rock. On a flowy jump trail I’m convinced but I am disappointed they didn’t come out with. 150/130 mm trail bike.
  • 8 2
I know that I'll get down voted. But Elliot wiuld Fricken kill it in Enduro. Pure speed & control.
  • 11 8
That guy's ripping, but all I can think about when I hear Giant is them pooping on 29ers for so long. Oh yeah and that Duke Nukem aggro Giant guy talking about how they're the biggest over and over.
  • 8 5
Niner make a 27.5 ffs. Why? Because there is a market and they make money from it.
There's a large market for 29er trail bikes, so obviously Giant have started making them (late af sure.)
Everyone on PB bashed 27.5 for so goddam long, but most of you are riding them now - I guess times change, crazy I know.
  • 4 0
@Clarkeh: Giant had a trance 29 in 2013... a bunch of people thought that it, and other brands "longer" travel 29ers rode like dog turds, so they pushed for 27.5 long travel bikes. Now the circle is complete.

Please don't go away 650b, my stumpy stature loves you too much
  • 3 2
@caltife : SO TRUE!!!!!!! I test rode a 29 and my bum kept hitting the rear tire making it quite the scary ride!
  • 5 0
Eliot is just saucing on everything!
  • 1 0
Again, for me just another new modern aggro lightweight trail bike that I want but will never buy because even the biggest bicycle manufacturer in the world cannot make it in XXL size with 500+mm reach. Hope the Tallboy V4 will get it right.
  • 4 0
Sick riding but what's up with the GM advertorial voiceover?
  • 1 0
 Irony?
  • 4 0
 More videos with Elliott plz
  • 3 1
The irony of having a downhiller selling a new trail bike when he’s said in interviews he hates riding trail bikes....
  • 4 0
 Damn El rips
  • 4 0
 Damn Eliot...
  • 1 0
Woah Woah Woah. Listen to the Inside Line Podcast with Eliot Jackson and you'll find out he doesn't like riding his trail bike. Wink
  • 1 1
I hate the american commentator on adverts. I always feel like i'm being lied to... More video parts with Elliot though. So sick

This is the second sick vid I've seen today that featured this trail. Where is it?? What is it?? Must ride it!
  • 1 0
what's the link to the other video?
  • 2 0
So 160mm travel bike is just too much for us already.
  • 2 0
I’m getting one just because of the video Wink
  • 2 0
eliot's tongue has more steeze then me
  • 2 0
Put Eliot back on the world cup team !!!
  • 2 0
I want to ride this rig instantly
  • 2 3
I don't understand how Giant doesn't have any top riders in their teams. Gutteriez, Jackson, Carlson are good riders but they're no top dogs. They have the means and the bikes.
