Let the Season of Shred...BEGIN!

So for the last two weekends I have been riding like a mad man with good friends on some gnarly trails. It all started last weekend in Central Point Oregon. Friday afternoon was packing and prepping for the weekend. I was just about to leave when a few special boxes showed up at the shop. The Cane Creek order came in with a surprise inside...Double Barrel Air Sexyness.

Its so pretty
It doesn't get hotter than this
Its so pretty

It just so happened that it was the exact length to fit my Makulu... Oh Darn, now I have to get one right? Unfortunately some adjustments had to be made to make if fit so I wasnt able to run it until this weekend.

My run to the coast was going to start out by hauling down the freeway until my munchies decided to kick in and I went to make a run through the Sonic drive through.

Before I decided that the Sonic drive through was a good place to rip a rack off my roof.
What it looked like before I decided to rip the roof rack off.

What happened next you have probably already figured out, I was 2 inch above the max drive through height and I proceeded to rip the bike and rack off the roof of my vehicle....not how you want to start a weekend. No damage was done to the bike, but the rack took a beating. Once that was sorted I finally got on the road. I met up with my buddy Cody Holmquist and piled everything into his truck.

Ready To Roll
Its a good reflector.
Ready To Roll

The two and a half hour drive to Arcata was going good until the weather broke loose and it started dumping rain and snow. About halfway there we came across an accident. A fuel truck had slid off the road and down the hill almost into the river. The driver walked away with a few scratches and a mangled truck.

Wreck halfway to Arcata
We knew it was gonna be a long night

Once we made it to Arcata it was pass out quick cause we had some gnar to shred in the morning....Little did we know it was going to be as gnar as it was.....

We woke up the next morning to blue skies and warm weather. Joel Graves and Alex Cairns were our trail guides and hosts for the weekend which ultimately leads to unrulyness and a bunch of loud guys covered in mud....Yes its as dirty as it sounds...

The trail we were thrown down was cut in only weeks before. Fortunately (or unfortunately depending on how you look at it) it had rained somewhere around 6inches in the last week that turned the trail into an all out mudfest. This trail is steep too...and I mean STEEP. Super loamy dirt with roots and pompous grass everywhere creating bombholes like you wouldn't believe....This is the ultimate Mans Track.

Heres a vid of the course just to give an idea of what we rode. Its A LOT steeper in person.

MUDBUTT
Put your sexy faces on...The girls love Ass

We made about 4 runs each and were absolutely covered in mud. I haven't had that much fun or wrecked that much on a trail in a long time. The trail was a great way to get used to the big bike again and shred with friends. I cant wait to go back when the trails dry and fast.

The next day we took it easy and messed around in town and headed up to The Cairns Compound after a purely epic breakfast at "The Pantry".

Oh So Good
Super Special Extreme Everything....Please...

We didn't do much riding at Alex's place due to trails needing work and an extreme lack of motivation. When we finally got done standing around talking we decided the the beach needed some shredding. So it was load up in Cody's shred mobile and rock to the coast. Once there one could only hope that we wouldn't find something to launch our bikes and body's off of. Well we found it. A nicely shaped hill with a cliff on one side. Cody was photo guy and me and Joel procrastinated until he finally hit the big drop...I opted for the easy line to epic drift to epic wreck. Once destroying that hill we moved on to another one a built a "jump" at the bottom...You can see where this is going...

After multiple wrecks, some epic drifts, sand in every crack and crevis, it was pizza and beer time at Joels place before we had to wake up and drive home.

We had two of these...$60 bucks!

When we finally awoke from our food coma, it was time to head home. We had an awesome time and cant wait to go back!
