Rode the course today. Bracken is an awesome trail!
- for those familiar with Paris Mtn (SC), it's like a 1000ft of elevation change on Little Kanuga or a one big arse pump track. Hard packed, nice and wide, not rooty and not rocky (there's a few rocks closer to the top, but nothing much). TONS of fun!!!!
- IMO, I think a 6 inch AM bike might be too much. For those that are faster on smaller travel bikes, go that route. There are a couple of pedally sections.
- it took us 1 hour to push/ride up to the NFS/Reserve property line.... I am not much of pedaler
- by comparing the maps (course and trail map), it looks like the upper part is Bracken, then you turn left and Brushy Creek loop, then finish off back on Bracken
- looking at the elevation profile, ya'll are gonna need your pedaling legs to get out of Brushy back to Bracken (miles 3.5 to 4.5 on the profile)
- parking by the Music center is about 0.5 mile away but plenty big and paved. The trailhead only has about 10 spots.
- I am still interested to see how everyone is gonna get up to the top fairly quickly.

My thoughts for what they are worth. I won't be racing, just shooting. I'm going try to get to the upper portion of Bracken, there's some good straight sections with nothing but roller (between mile 1 and 1.5)

Looking forward to it.
