My brother was working for a holiday company called Ride Slovenia last year, which was based in Luce. Tucked away, high in the mountains above the capital city of Ljubljana, Luce is absolutely beautiful and surrounded by picturesque vistas, all of which are loaded with awesome trails - it's not hard to understand why I really wanted to go.

As luck would have it, a week without any guests booked in, miraculously appeared and after a quick call from my brother, an opportunity presented itself and plans were hastily made. We (17 in total) finally arrived after hours of travelling and what did we do first? The first thing any mountain biker would do and unpacked our bikes and headed straight to the nearest mountain - even after only getting 2-hours of sleep within a 30 hour time frame, it still felt good to get out on a bike and ride the local trails... It's safe to say, we weren't disappointed!

All the lads above the clouds
All the lads high above Luce and the even the clouds!

We hit a variety of trails over the week ranging from lift accessed trails to others that were short enough to do multiple laps on. Being so varied and different, it never felt like you were on the same trail more than once, even though your were at times linking back on to trails you'd previously ridden. From loose and loamy natural singeltrack and some of the hardest trail I've ever ridden - to bike park trails where in one run it felt like you were riding 4 or 5 different trails in one. We even jumped the border and hit a random paved track in Austria, which was full of jumps and berms, and was 11km long!

The group assembled on a tiny path
On one of the sketchy ridge lines.

Choosing my favourite trail of the trip is hard one, but it has to be the epic ridge lines that went on for miles and being so tight and narrow, made them super sketchy! That was probably the scariest trail I've ever ridden, but possibly one of my all-time favourites too.

Me and Ian atop the first lift sketchy grins all round.
Some amazing scenery

Dodgy facial expressions were a must.
Mike sending one in front of the boys many dodgy poses were had.

One of many food stops on our travels - the food in Slovenia is so cheap!

Will after a crash camera straight in his face.
"You alright mate?"

Everyone together on a tiny log with an amazing view behind with Luce down below.
What a trip and what are you waiting for? Check out Slovenia and its amazing trails!

That's why we do a balkan trip almost every year with a group of friends, going south is just cheaper (we do a road trip, no bikes).

Not to mention we don't mind the local cuisine going south (roštilj FTW!) Big Grin

Then bring your bikes and come to Belgrade. Smile we have tendencies of mixing riding and roshtilj. Big Grin
