18 Bikes That Could Be Updated in 2024
If the scout is dropped from the lineup what bike will I keep racked on my 2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro Offroad DoubleCab 4x4 Trail Special Edition to let everyone in my apartment's car park know that I ride?

First Ride: SRAM's New Powertrain Motor
Using an e-motor with a traditional derailleur/cassette assembly is the most antiquated, cave man level garbage being force fed to the masses. Apparently implementing a gearbox just slightly more complex than what you'd find in a 1940's Ford tractor would eat into the cassette and derailleur revenue.

Specialized Releases Levo SL HT - An eMTB Hardtail for Kids
People who think this is a bike for kids are a bit misguided... This is a bike for parents. No kid this age is going for trail rides alone, so if this means parents can actually go for a ride without having to drag their kid up the hill then everyone wins. Yeah the kid may turn out a bit whacky after growing up in e-bikes but everyone ruins their kids one way or another.

Shimano Consolidates Entry- to Mid-Level Groupsets With New CUES Drivetrains
So it sounds like you can use the 9s cassette, U8000 11s shifter, U6000 derailleur, screw the limit screw in and then use an XT crank with 11S chainring and get a bulletproof, cheap wide range 9 speed setup. It's a shame they aren't making a U8000 9s specific derailleur but the limit screw trick should work just fine.

The Pinkbike Podcast: Enduro World Cup Racing, New Tech, & Will Bike Prices Go Back Down?
There's been a E-bike series as a part of GNCC offroad motorcycle racing now for quite a few years which in my opinion is one of the few examples of E-bike racing done right. Motorcycle trails, gnarly climbs, mud, roots, and rocks. Relatively flat terrain that still puts a focus on rider fitness and cardio, and best of all not a single MTB trail used. Seems like the holy grail for this type of machine but I've never seen any coverage on PB. Seems sorta odd considering how willing you guys are to put 15K e-bikes on the front page.

Fox Patent Shows Automatically Decoupling Hub & Disengaging Derailleur
I think this would be very easy to implement with a crank position sensor in the bottom bracket shell very similar to crank position sensors used in the automotive world. Hopefully instead of servomotor actuation they could use a more robust electromagnetic actuation to shift the pawls in the freehub. Aluminum isn't ferrous so the hub us a perfect place for electromagnet coils.

8 More Bikes That Could Be Updated for 2023
I mean, if we're looking at reducing unsprung mass I'm pretty sure the optic has the shock in the correct orientation and all of the other brands are wrong? It seems bizarre why other brands are ok having that air canister and all of the clickers moving with the linkage every time the shock compresses...
