In Memoriam: Mark Dunlop
Wow, another one gone but what an amazing worldwide community we're all part of. Sends chills down the spine when something like this happens but at the very least we all know what he felt like roosting awesome trails with great mates. A life worth being lived. Keep roosting wherever you go bro!!

Aug 1, 2014Cotic Rocket world-class build spec
$2750 GBPWorld-class level enduro bike- this really is one of the best bikes you will EVER ride... I moved from a Santa Cruz nomad, an Intense Carbine and onto this and it is the most fun bike I have ever ridden. Super stable, poppy, lively and you can really feel the steel when you ride it. So many bikes are 'dead' these days but this one really makes it fun!!
I spec'd this bike from scratch with nothing but the best components money can buy... also includes spares to run either 1 x 10sp or 2 x 10sp with two chain devices.
Full RRP on this bike is somewhere around £5500!!!!

This bike is equivalent in terms of sizing to a medium in most other brands. Check the Cotic website for specifics but here are the topline ones:
Top-tube = 22.6" which is the same as a medium in SantaCruz, Trek etc
Seat-tube = 16" which again is the same as a medium in other brands
I am 6"1 and have been riding the bike for 18months, super fun, low and roomy in the cockpit... if you look on most manufacturers sites, these frame dimensions are suitable for anyone from 5"5 - 5"12
Current Spec:
Cotic Rocket frame size small (orange) with BOS vivid enduro shock with custom valving specifically from BOS for the Cotic Rocket
Fox 36 FiT RLC (High & low-speed compression, pre-load, rebound etc.)- travel set to 140mm by Mojo Suspension to match rear travel
Hope cartridge headset
Thompson E4 stem 50mm reach
Easton Haven Carbon handlebar
Lizard skins lock-on grips
XTR trail brakes
Sram X-0 shifter right hand 10 speed
Rockshox Reverb seat post with hydraulic lever (right hand) mounted under the bar on the left hand side
Fizzik Gobi magnesium saddle
Sram X-0 carbon cranks
MRP blingring 36T (also comes with brand new spare 34T)
Sram X-0 chain
Sram X-0 11-36T cassette (option for additional ratio)
Sram X-0 carbon clutch mech
Mavic Crossmax ST wheelset (of the lightest & strongest all mountain wheelsets)
Continental RubberQueens (+ spare set of Maxxis High Rollers)
Additional kit:
Sram X-0 left hand shifter
Sram X-0 double ring set-up (to run 2 x 10sp)
Sram truative X-guide dual (to run 2 x 10sp)
This really is a unique bike and yes- they are as good as all the reviews!!!
Bike Magic:
Ride performance – strap yourself in
You’re probably expecting us, under a section entitled ‘ride performance’ to wheel out some old line about ‘steel is real’ and ‘it’s got that steel feel’. We’re not going to. To really get to that level of testing would require some comparative testing with an equivalent aluminium bike.
On our long drive north we had plenty of time for our scepticism about whether steel could work in such a long travel bike to settle in. Happily, any such worries were completely blown away after a couple of hours of blasting around the Peaks. Cotic have really excelled here, producing a bike that performs brilliantly. Eyes wide open then, the Rocket, in a nutshell, is an absolute blast to ride. Words that came quickly to mind after the ride were quick, stable, planted, solid, fun.
